well they gave the cheapest quote, and they are normally helpful over the phone.....

depending on how much oil you lost the big ends could've had it, but it sounds like you caught it soon enough.

doesent sound serious but DONT take out the spark plugs as you'll just get water in the bores that'll run down into your oil and won't be fun. remove the HT leads and have a look for water and dry it out as best you can.
flux are awesome. never ever beaten for me. I think they are cheaper for under 25s
edit: oh.....and I left out the fact that I was a CS member when insuring my 172. Maybe we are prone to crashing 172s!
Some lumpy idle issues can be solved by replacing the lambda sensor. Really, the only explanation for more noise from the exhuast is a blowing exhaust.

MAP sensor (on the side of the plenum) is not a bad suggestion. Fred says they are an identical part to the 1.2s so get yourself down the scrappys
RS clios don't do EGR (the MK2s anyways). Sounds a little extreme to be a lambda sensor but could be worth a try. perhaps a...

Well done for getting a fresh subframe though, it's definitely the right choice.

cylinders get slightly hotter as they go further from the cambelt due to the direction of coolant flow.
I've read somewhere that aligning spark plug electrodes at the correct angle when you tighten them can give you some small but worthwhile efficiency gains.
