ah man. it's a real f*cker. Happened to me in my valver.
If it is seized no amount of oil/anything will unseize it.
Try Post 2, but you need to be thinking about a replacement engine sharpish tbh
Re: 172 mk1 knocking (hard acceleration and over bumps) Renault Swin say that cant f
They need stiffer engine mounts from stock really. I'd be tempted by a Ktec dogbone bush in your position
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Heres a blast from the past

I reckon a decat will add a little rasp to your car. It will add a fair bit more general noise too though beware of that.
Is it a 182? cos decats are annoying to fit unless you've got a 182 manifold.
I spose with some very carefull planning I could have it all mapped out and crimp and connect up in an afternoon. Maybe I'm over-estimating the amount of alteration I'm going to be doing with the loom further down the line.
Decisions!
Icarus, fancy parting with some AS connectors? I'm keen to...
Just had a reply from Servo-Interconnect RE a bulkhead connector for my engine loom
Think I'll go with that, Unless icarus fancies doing me a deal on a 36 way Autosport plug+socket?
Powey, Yes, I reckon theres loads of specialists round here (I'm 3 miles from Silverstone) but I need my own...
ok, I'll get the cheaper ratchet type tool i think given that. I've quickly realised doing a bit of research that crimping seems to be quite an exact science and I can't afford the proper tools!
I seem to remember being quoted around £30 for a DRC connector set for the bulkhead.
Here's a quote...

I've looked into renting, it's not a common thing and it's just as hard to get the right thing. Also I'd rather have my own.
The above CBS one looks ok. It's...
Got an email back from tyco who suggest using a crimp tool PN 91583-1......quick google and it's $400!!
Would something like this be any good? these are non insulated terminals for a Loom plug.

Really appreciate any help on this
are crimp tools really meant to be £90 to £130???!?!?
Currently trying to find a suitable crimp tool for my Emerald ECU Kit.
The plug emerald use is made by a company called AMP (32pin)
The Connectors (pins) used are Tyco Econoseal PN-345150
Emerald recommend a crimp tool made by ABIKO - the...
The renault CVs i've used have 6 ball bearings in......i'd describe it as more of a knuckle than a tripod.
I've finished mocking up the shafts. Spent ages trying to make sure they were ok. Jacking up, full-lock.....jumping on the front end, full lock. Luckily the car is really low at the mo, so...
^^Theres normally room for a GT30 with the turbo round the back, god knows what that thing is!!^
Awesome
That last one. The boost pipe is headed straight back through the bulkhead? Cleverly concealed charge cooler?? Just unbelievably sized turbos!
I did say suggest KTec make an uprated mount bush when that whole thread kicked off about that idiot being angry about the cable ties in his exhaust mount they fitted.
Don't think they'll ever bother though.
are you sure that it's the heatsheild? 172s are renowned for a rattly mid-section silencer (like mine did). It's the baffles inside the silencer coming loose iirc.
