I reckon a decat will add a little rasp to your car. It will add a fair bit more general noise too though beware of that. Is it a 182? cos decats are annoying to fit unless you've got a 182 manifold.

Lumpy idle, emissions light, over-fuelling smell I'd be very surprised if it wasn't fixed by changing the upstream lambda.

I did say suggest KTec make an uprated mount bush when that whole thread kicked off about that idiot being angry about the cable ties in his exhaust mount they fitted. Don't think they'll ever bother though.

are you sure that it's the heatsheild? 172s are renowned for a rattly mid-section silencer (like mine did). It's the baffles inside the silencer coming loose iirc.
