I don't get the 17.7 multiplier tho?? you said compression ratio multiplied by 17?
that's what threw me. thought it was a typo for 14.7. Should really keep my ideas to myself! lol
you are saying multiply the compression ratio by a conversion to get a figure in PSI
1 atmosphere is 14.695949 PSI
you have 8.5 compressed into 1. That makes 8.5 atmospheres (or 8.61 bar OR 124.92 PSI)
But then that's absolute pressure. So you want to minus 1 atmosphere to get a PSI gauge...
3rd gear crunching from 44k.
172 Ph2
Edit, and as above. Heel-toe every gear, all the time. Essential to prolong RS engine mounts and gearbox.
another edit:
If I owned another, i'd be trying 75-90 gear oil in it as my 3rd gear would only crunch when gear oil was really warm. Anyone tried 75-90?
Yes. Really :approve:
Just got off the phone to a company called GB engineering in Nantwich (Nr crewe)
They do new manufacture custom length shafts with any spline you like on either end for 160 per side. Seems pretty good to me. Then I'll have 1 piece custom shafts that I can clip OEM CV...
Definitely going to have another look at that dogbone mount, going to think about using the whole of the VAG OEM part with the rear of the subframe modified to suit.
Been looking at driveshafts today. Developments soon hopefully.
Thanks for the email you sent me last year flan, that's what...
gearboxes are always a weak point with renaults.
I know of an (idiot) guy who spent a while doing burnouts in his 197 and he quickly blew the gearbox. The car was low mileage too.
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Nice guide mate, still not sure about fitting the 172 widetrack to my car. I think i'll stick with williams for now.
VAG helpfully designed their 'boxes so the driveshafts bolt onto plates outside the box casing......No oil lost :D
German Win....Ja!
nice figures, but I can imagine a twin engined car being really really really bad to drive.
Why the two engines mate? What's going on there? Is one a Ph1 and one a Ph2?
the 197 6 speed boxes don't bolt on to the 172/182 engines (from what has been said on this forum previously.
Also, as I understand it, they are too long to get between the chassis legs on a MK2 clio.
Don't copy and paste the pictures into your pub document. Do an insert>Image>from File.... so publisher knows where they came from
Have ALL your pics in the same folder on your PC and upload them all to one folder on your web-space
Then Save the publisher doc as HTML ready for upload. Before...
theres a little breather that comes up on a pipe from behind the engine. That plugs into the OEM inlet bend.
Then the airbox itself is held down my 2 10mm bolts and it has 2 air feeds. One underneath and one on the right.
Keep hold of the simota, don't bin it. You'll fetch some cash for it on here.
Has anyone found any good guides to spraying car panels anywhere on the web?
I should be able to get my hands on a small air compressor quite cheaply and I really want to spray my engine bay to neaten it all up.
Heres the pics of it fitted.
I've also been trying to shift the engine with my foot on the sump to try and stress the dogbone. There is a very slight shift of the engine transversely which the other 2 engine mounts can't really resist. So I'm now thinking I might have another go.....but...
