Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
I've got an LC-1 wideband lambda. loads of people had trouble with them loosing their calibration while cranking due to the starter taking all the current. The solution was to use a capacitor to keep the voltage to the wideband controller.
Could you be...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Jees. That sounds a really nasty fault finding task.
The rewire sounds like a good idea anyway, but as you say, I wouldnt hold too much hope. Try and find out more about the fault code?
good luck
does it run fine? ever cut out? coilpack is always a possibility for bad ignition.
You will find the crank sensor where the gearbox housing meets the engine. Right on top of the gear box housing there is a little sensor that senses the flywheel motion.
nope. It's things like oil and water feeds for the turbo, and an oil drain back to the sump and the (probably) stronger rods, the different pistons (lower compression), turbo cams, boost capable MAP sensor/boost capable MAF sensor, the list goes on......
Just do a straight swap. Get the engine...
can we throw these compromised handling myths out the window please. It's a very similar engine, with a slightly stronger bottom end, a small turbo and an ally intercooler. You won't notice it in a car that weighs what a 197 does.
Good idea. Most likely turn out to be a simple bolt on engine...
not sure about looms rotting on a car thats about 7 years old and well looked after.....
more a mk1 thing that, and even then, ive never seen it. possibly check the earth strap though
Theres a few going on atm inc mine.
NO (and I cannot stress this enough) it's not good for a novice. I wouldn't describe myself as mega experienced, but I still wouldnt recommend it unless you are confident.
The custom fabrication list is fairly long. You'll probably want to chop and reweld the...
^It's finished mate :D and well finished too.
Nice to meet you at FCS, I was the guy who would have liked (but could not afford :)) your willwoods.
Love the car. Very nice. Is it on the OEM management with a chip or is it standalone?
fun then!
Going to need to start trouble shooting. But personally. I still wouldnt rule out a dodgy coilpack. If you've got a mate locally who can lend you one of his 1*2 could be worth a try.
Consider giving the throttle body and good clean too with some carb cleaner. If it's fubared that will...
Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread
I have some Ph1 rear lights. They are full of win and look much better than phase 2. I reckon you should buy them off me. :D
Might need the offset reducing (machining) and the centre bore will be 57.1 (VAG) but you might get away with that depending on your stud conversion kit.
Should be coooool.
lambda won't hurt. Normally improves MPG a lot
as for your missfire, it's almost certinally a coil pack. These go so often on french cars that an AA man may even have on in his van. So if your a member, that could be cheap.
it's going to depend entirely on who does em.
Speak to beaniemoo about their car http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=252642
iirc they had fitting issues.
