the 197 cams give you more extra power and torque but this is only the first one i've done so wouldn't like to say for now BUT with going for the timing change you don't have to spend out on cams, belt kit and then the fitting so it works out a lot cheaper.
bloody fun to drive now, was good anyway. was in from 6.30 yesterday morning and finished at efi about 9.30 last knight, absolutely shattered but woke me up driving it back!!
standard cams but with different timing, nice gains without the expense of having to have belts done and swap cams. just started a thread on it as it's first one i've done but got to be said gains are good.
group N cam timing
finally got round to doing something with cam timing on standard cams. car is a 172 cup, btb exhaust and cat, mtc inlet elbow and cone filter. car always felt strong and pulled well. the red is from it's first power run so we had a start point, was on standard renault map...
Generic maps aren't worth a carrot!! The cars can vary so much it's pretty much pointless.
If you're thinking about cams though I've just started playing with the timing on the standard cams, the car in doing it with made bloody good power to begin with so will have to ignore figures and just...
You can use your throttle on it. There are a few being broken for parts in the UK so you should be able to find one easy enough, it's just shipping costs might be a bit expensive.
What power are you looking for?
m9 x 1 is common on push bikes. or to do it the cheapskate way drill an m8 nut with an 8mm drill bit and tap it to m9, had to do two today as i forgot to get nuts!!
Don't even go down the route of trying to replace just the outer joint, there are at least four different joints used and there is no listing for what different ones were used on what car or year.
