did some research into this recently and I think i remember reading somewhere that some ECUs are able to r****d ignition to generate hotter EGTs and heat the cat up if it reads that emissions are too dirty.

you can't 'uprate' it without spending about 8k on a sadev tbh. Just leave it and if it breaks, get another.
and at £1k, your having a laugh. Call it 200 or 300 for fitting a completely unmolested valver engine with a new cambelt.

yes. Turbo'd valvers are fairly common. T25 turbo manifolds are cheap (think they come up on ebay sometimes). ECU chips can be had and programmed (see williamsclio.co.uk forum). No immobilisers to worry about (ph1).

good condition valver engine will make 137bhp as standard and a minter can be had for about £200. If not buy a cheap one and rebuild the head, dead cheap parts.
Edit: uniqueness - there is not a single F7P (valver) MK2 I know of.

No-one has tried yet afaik, but the 1.2TCE turbo manifold and turbo should fit onto the 1.2 16v motor.
Bit pointless, as the turbo is tiny, and should you decide to take the management from the TCE over too you will have no end of troubles with immobilisers and ignition cut...

It'll slot into any clio (not sure about Mk3). But id go MK1. It's an okay engine... not the most advanced thing in the world. Buy a T28 for it and it could make some seriously worthwhile power.
I'd definitely go standalone management, even if it's just mega squirt...
been looking at breifcase in XP, but it's not ideal.
Although it updates from USB stick to PC well, it Involves copying every file to the USB stick every time you want to walk away with it by the looks of things.

as above. I've got my doubts that 250 could be done on a realistic budget. It's a glorified 1*2 engine after all. so I wouldnt push your expectations further than 235bhp or thereabouts without REAL wonga to throw at it.
