make sure it's not too tight otherwise the pulley bearings will go.
As a rough guide, you should be able to twist a fairly long stretch of the belt 90degrees and no further.
If it's due, change it. If you CBA, belt slip ;)
From a race point of view, perhaps gravel from the car in front could be a concern, but only really in edurance races. But as far as a road car goes, a relatively compact airbox and scuttle CAF could be used and eliminate that 90deg induction hose on the IK pictured.
I wasn't aware that the 197s...
The fact that it makes X amount more power than the standard setup doesent say anything about the air inlet temps, or the optimisation of this particular design. It just seems completely stupid to put a big open IK there. Are you sure there isnt a piece missing and it has a proper cold air feed...
interesting question
I suspect the port spacing would be the same, so the Exhaust manifold should be ok, but then what flange is fitted? U'd have to use the megane turbo and is there clearance? As for pistons, doubt it.
iirc Megane block is more like a 197 block so not compatible with 1*2 length...
if your after value for money forget the IK altogether.
Matched inlets,
Decat,
RS tuner Custom Map.
That's all the effective mods you can do without spending considerable cash.
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
leave it out! where you going to find one of those for reasonable cash? Plus the gearbox won't fit, so the chassis legs would have to go....and the rest. gearboxes are not interchangable between the 197 and 1*2
I think you should just see what comes up on the market jord...
get some 16s. Turinis are nice wheels, that's why everyone on here likes em. there are also 172FF wheels which are cheaper or 182 wheels if you like the look. have a shop around the VW market also for 16s, most things that are 4x100 will go on with spacers/machining
really want a caddy with a towbar atm.
Could a caddy be made capable enough (and legal) for towing small cars on trailers? Don't know anything about trailer laws.
PD150 diesel would be perfect :)
Did you time the cam to some white marks that someone had drawn or did you time it to the factory dent cast in the pulley?
If you've been following f0xy's thread, thats the mistake he made and it cost half his valves iirc.
