I know what you mean, after a while they feel slow on dual carriageways but when you take them out on a twisty road it suddenly dawns on you how quick they are.
Its not that the car doesnt give you confidence, its just that you sort of dont trust yourself to show restraint and you realise how...
1, This can be easily fixed yourself and unlike Renault you wont damage the car in the process and you will actually fix it instead of making it worse.
2, I too thought they were stainless so I am not sure it is rust. I wash my exhausts once a week when I do the car and then spray them with...
Well it was the one I test drove but Id rather not go into what it was. It wasnt a Renault I can tell you that.
It was a fantastic test drive, I loved it to bits as I jumped in and felt at home right away. After a couple of months of ownership though I was sick of it and I mean bloody sick...
I think maybe this should be locked as it is going around in circles.
If I had test driven my 182 I wouldnt have bought it.
Now after only 2500 miles of running in its getting more and more eager and the power and torque is spreading further and further down the rev range everytime I drive...
The point is to upset people in flash cars that think they have been beaten by a 1.4?
Isnt that the whole point of the 172/182? To look like a normal car but keep up with sports cars? All these people are doing is taking it a few steps further?
Where did this amazing Mini build quality come from?
They are made in ex BL/Austin factories by ex BL/Austin workers I think I am right in saying?
Therefore its just an evolution of the Allegro/Metro?!!!?
How did sticking a BMW badge on it suddenly boost the build quality and reduce...
Tesco £510.
I am 28, full NCD, no claims, no convictions and thats with all the extras like courtesy car, NCD protection and legal cover. It goes down to £475 if I get rid of all that bar the NCD protection.
To be honest that seems a bit expensive to me given the performance. I was hoping...
I think the 182 gets better low down as it runs in. Mine picks up a lot better after 2k than it did when new.
Obviously most 172s have done 20 or 30k now at least and people are comparing them with brand new 182s.
I set mine up so the wheel and gear stick are at the correct distance.
I am sat a little closer to the pedals than I would like but its not a problem and I feel more in control with that driving position.
When I do a long motorway journey I am not steering or change gear much so I push the...
I assume you were going for one of the better Elises? Most people I know with an Elise have the poor mans 120bhp version. They are not quick and Id rather have my 182 even if the running costs were identical.
If you do a search you will see that I was disappointed with my 182 when I got it in October. Since then it has run in a bit, filled with the correct fuel and more importantly I have got used to driving it - learned how to get the best out of it and got a comfortable seating position.
Now my...
Ive driven the VX Turbo on track and it was incredible. No contest really, the V6 doesnt get a look in. As soon as you sit in you know it means business and the V6 isnt even in the same league when it comes to performance.
If you are so old/fat that you have difficulty getting in and out then...
Normally you save up a deposit for a car right? Well when you get smaller cars like the 1.2 16v Clios on a selections scheme you barely pay any deposit. On my 1.2 it was £200 and I cut out a coupon in the paper that cut that down to zero deposit.
So I stuck the few grand I had save up for a...
Most of these schemes have a negligable deposit. So you do what I do - put what was your deposit in an ISA for the three years.
The interest you earn on the ISA can compensate for the interest you pay on the finance. At the end of the agreement you already have the final payment to buy the car...
Go for the Turbo, is quick in a straight line and alright not so good in the corners but you rarely race people around corners.
Avoid the NA like the plague. Far too slow to justify the running costs my mate is experiencing. Youd be better off with a 172.
The funny thing is my local Renault dealer is selling almost a year old ex demos with 10k on the clock that have no doubt been absolutely shafted for £12k!!!
Thats how much they sold my neighbours for and it had a couple of illegal tyres and no front splitter!
Ive no doubt I would have...
Mine hasnt shifted so much as 1mm on the dipstick since I got it (just over 2k now). I have had 4 new cars in my life time and they were all the same.
Even my old Mini which had an oil leak that made a mess on the drive didnt seem to have any movement on the dipstick.
Totally disagree with all these Toyota knockers. As I said my bros blows the Clio away.
He has just booked in for his first service. Costs less than a Renault service and they will pick up and return his car at no extra cost.
Cant see Renault doing that.
Whats more Toyota will actually...
Mileage is fine, mine had 100 miles where it was driven up from Southampton.
Go back and demand they fix the bonnet and stripes. Dont take any sh1t but give them plenty.
That sort of muck is often caused by doing short journeys. My commute is 9 miles each way so I do a long run at the weekend to get the engine red hot and remove all the condensation from the oil and exhaust.
The spoiler pack is a must in my opinion. If you dont get those cup packs you will regret it forever and given the low cost you might as well get them. No arguements, no discussion just get them end of story.
The stripes will attract vandals if you ask me. Also when you come up behind flash...
I used a thick bit of old motorcycle innertube. It definitely has moved a bit. It has leaned sideways by about 20 degrees but because of its width and length (it touches the bottom of the surround and sticks up an inch and a half above the mount) it hasnt made any difference and could easily...
