So your trip computer does reset randomly? If it does it's definitely a dodgy battery. Get it from Renault, a lot of people say the cheaper ones fail really easily.

What's the big problem with the light being on anyway? It's dead tiny and out to the side, not like it's a massive thing in your face that beeps, like a golf lol.

This kind of thing is common as muck on Clios, if you call the RAC I can guarantee they will know straight away what it is. It's probably best not to say I think it's this or that, just explain the problem and leave it at that, it looks a bit sussed otherwise imo. If your calling the RAC out...

Don't you mean ignition coil? They can be purchased seperately, I bought one for £50 off the AA man the first time it happened on my old dynamique+ Again though that was the K4M, I don't know if it's the same for the 1.2.

You can see it from the top, it's right where the gearbox makes contact with the engine, just underneath the airbox and left a bit really. If you can drive it then it can't have come off.

If your that concerned get the plastic crap from underneath off the car and stick your head under there to see if you can spot it.

Jumped the gun a bit but it's safe to say that a standard decatted clio will fail an emissions test making it unroadworthy.

All you should hear is the starter motor turning for a few seconds before it stops of it's own accord.

One decat is the same as another. Don't forget that they are NOT road legal.
