Yup. The R200 (which I had) was about £72 to fill when it first came out - as each cartridge was £12 each.. and there are 6.
Epson then released a refill pack at £30-£40, so much better..
I'm looking at getting the R220 now.. as the R200 was great.. and, as I said, I mainly used it for CD...

You burn what you want to the CD, place it on the Epson CD Guide, use the Epson Print CD software to create what you want on the label (images, text etc..) and print. It feeds the CD...
I must admit, I tend to use the original Epson ink.. :)
£30 I think for a set now.. not the cheapest, but it's good stuff. (I've never tried anything else tho!)
The Epson is good because it can print directly onto printable CD-R's/DVD's, which is what I used mine for mainly.

You need to have a look at how many pages one toner produces, then compare them with other models if...

You don't get A LOT of stuff at the moment.. but I'd say it was worth it if you have an HD TV just because :)
Discovery HD is quite interesting - some car shows on there, too :)
National Geo HD is good too, in terms of showing off what HD can do.

Sky Sports HD also OK with a few...
£200 per arch is cheap too for a decent job.
I'd say £250.. heh.
But, you can get it done for £100 a side - but I'd put the remaining £150 on the fact it'll br rusting again within 6/12 months and/or look poor. :)
