Ok yeah I will do that, I'll fit the balljoint on sunday and get the tyres fitted and alignment checked after.
It feels like the right wheel is either possibly scrubbing, it feels like somethings catching at a certain point when moving forward, but only on full lock, Ive had a look at the flap...
Mine seem to work in a sequence, i.e. wash windows (no xenon wash), wash windows (no xenon wash), wash... (xenon jets clean as well) then repeat.
Or is it how long you hold the washer stalk? anyone?
Received my new tyres today so the plan is to fit the other side ball joint then have the tyres fitted and alignment checked.
On full lock moving forward it feels like the right wheel (the only one with a new ball joint so far) is locking/skipping?
I've briefly read about the alignment side...
Thats good to hear mate thank you.
And I agree with all of you, I've been for a drive, without the airbox on top of the gearbox I can definitely hear more gear change noise, but I think its nothing to worry about now I've done a few tests changing gear and going down hill like i said above it...
I like the look of the Nexus 10, I'm still yet to own any type of iPad, I keep having more important things to pay for cropping up.
But this looks decent for browsing the web at work etc...
I went for a long drive tonight, I just want to rule out any potential gearbox problems so I can stop worrying, the noise is quite annoying tbh its audiable with low music, I think its an air noise, but I cant tell until I put the old airbox in.
I think where the airbox was it covered a lot of...
Is that the hole size on the ball joints or the size of the bolts? I guess there 12mm, the hole closest to the moving joint is about 11.78mm the hole at the end is 12.31mm, pretty much the same size as the old one.
Yeah pretty much the same, I think the torx size would be T30 or 40, cant confirm though.
Only thing I can suggest is when winding back the calipers, the way i do is is undo the brake fluid cap in the engine bay then use one of the old brake pads on the piston and use a large G clamp to wind...
So the lemforders can be adjusted slightly? I haven't checked but the holes on the ball joints I have look snug to the bolts so I'm not sure about movement.
I think they might just be s**t quality, may whack the old one back on for now.
Could it be now the lower joint is new its making the top...
Before my MOT I decided to change the lower ball joints to fresh ones, being pre MOT and tight I bought 2 of the cheaper type on Euro car parts, I've read varying reviews on the cheaper type that they do the job but just don't last as long as Lemforder. But seeing as they where 17 a pair on...
Yeah thats what worries me no one else seems to have had a problem, the noise is faint but noticeable, Ive tried a few different things to try and rule out if its the gearbox or wind noise.
The removal of the airbox for the induction does leave quite a big gap and anything could be hitting wind...
I've driven the car a bit more and im fairly sure its the gearbox giving a very faint whine, it didnt do this before I changed the oil I'm sure. Is 75w90 thinner or thicker than 80?
Im also unsure if having taken the OEM airbox out to fit the ktec induction has left a big wind hole and that...
Just read through this thread, still havent decided but I'm leaning towards the RS2's, my front tyres are nearly on the markers and I need to get an order in with cam skill.
Both are decently priced unless anyone can reccomend another similar tyre thats better?
205's...
Nope its ktec new gen induction kit, I think it could be the cat to manifold join but It sounds more mechanical than just a whistle, maybe I'll get a video if its loud enough.
Posting this up because its on the back of my mind. I replace the gearbox oil purely because I fancied it, I think the correct grade is 75w80? I put a thread up and seemed 75w90 was fine to use. (is 90 thicker?)

So I replaced the oil and now I'm...
Get your head up inside the passenger side dash, look behind the dash to the left, inbetween the wiring you should see the grommet. Yep from inside the car stick a flat head screw driver through the grommet.
The bonnet release cable goes through it and the rest is sealed, but there is a space...
I think (and I cant remember how) but I pulled up the power steering reservoir which allowed it to be pulled forward so I could see the bonnet release grommet behind the carpet stuff, I then stuck a screwdriver through the gromet (from inside the car) and waggled it till there was enough room...
The head of my drivers pinch bolt rounded off with the breaker bar, had to smash a smaller socket on, heat the f**k out of the surrounding area and eventually it smashed out.
I managed to do the drivers side in an hour just before it got dark again, Need to do the passenger's side in the next few days. Can anything be done other than care to stop the driveshaft popping out?
This. Caliper and disc off gives you the distance you need to get a clean smack on the pinch bolt. Mine was stuck solid and wouldn't come out until I stripped down to the hub for access (if doing work on the drive)
Spray some penetrating fluid onto the hub where the ball joint is pinched a few...
