Fairly sure they are interchangeable you just have to wind the threads out a little more. My old 182 cup had inner rods from ECP. My current car has standard DCI inner rods on 172 running gear which is wider than the standard DCI kit.

Ohh I always wanted a mk1 I know you were looking at sorting out the shock. Definitely hasn't got a wide track conversion so you should be okay with just a normal DCI shock. Maybe it has slightly drop lowering springs.
