Look at it as a blessing, leave it as it is, remove everything power-steering related you don't need, get stronger arms, gain 10 bhp.
That's what I did.
LOL - harsh...but true. It does look like it needs a 'special' driver I'll admit...tall, boxy, Suzuki badge, agree they do look a bit hideous.
But as Hazza (and you) say, it's all about the drive...and in that area they are 100% faultless, as good as any standard Renaultsport car in my...
I bought my 172 Cup new in December 03, put 120k on it in 5 years with countless trackdays and sprints, and now it's retired and just gets a loving stroke and/or a beasting/trackday every now and then.
All on standard suspension but with some minor brake mods and basic weight reduction.
40mpg...
I can't comment on any EBC pads as I've never run them, but I now have a set of DS2500s installed.
I originally tried them a few years back and thought they were s***, wilting without too much provacation on track. Then I gave PF97, Pagid Blue, and most recently Carbone Lorraine pads a go all...
Nope, wasn't me, nowhere near Storrington last Friday. Can't really drive mine at the moment without a sunstrip anyway...picking a nice bright yellow one up for fitment next week though LOL
I live in Middleton (over by Bognor) but work in East Worthing so am often out and about.
Only ever in the Cup on Fridays or the weekend though - black Ignis Sport the rest of the time.
LOL Kev you think like me.
I always thought a 172 Cup with a DCi 100 in it would make just about the most perfect commuting car ever. Would have done something like that if I could be arsed, but I couldn't hence the Iggy.
This I don't get.
"It'll be worth £x less when you come to sell it."
Yes of course it will...but you paid less for it to start with...
On a 172 Cup a/c was a £650 option. Put two identical Cups side by side now, one with, one without, is the one with really going to sell for £650 more?
Sounds like a complete imbalance of grip front/rear to me.
Having the Hankooks on the front probably flattered them a little as they had 700 kgs pressing them down. Now they're on the back they've got just over half that.
Factor in PE2s being phenomenal no matter where you put them - gripped...
Indeed...but it helps the pub-bragging-rights if you can say your car does 0-100 in x seconds aided by one less gear-change...reality of course is it's just the same speed regardless of where/when you shift.
Not even possible with a higher limiter...mine limits at 7,750 and that's enough to see an indicated 96 or a real 93 mph.
If you could set the limiter at 8,333 and get the engine so it has torque and power at that rpm then you could do it...just.
...and if you can deal with them clanking and rattling in the calipers and also if you're happy for everyone to block their ears every time you brake...they squeal like a stuck pig.
Twaddle. Had it in my Focus, drove that thing for two years, honestly only ever had the a/c on once in that time.
My latest mini-beast has it too...I'll turn it on once a month to stop the seals drying out but that'll be all it gets.
Amen. This is the UK, not Antigua.
I did think that Chris, got a Fiat dealer in my village so would have made sense...but I'm a skinflint accountant at heart and despise spending money so went with the cheap option.
Managed to find excuses to have to go out several times today...seating feels a lot more natural now, and I'm...
Kind of, saw one that was too good to be true so snapped it up. Pics and speedo video in my "My new car" thread. I'm finding every reason I can to drive it at the moment, it's such a laugh.
