im sorry about the engine, im assuming the water got up the exhaust manifold. I ran the engine for approx 80 miles which is when it started making the rattling. With regards to the comments RE the pallet and broken parts can i stress i gave a full refund on the damaged items and i don't know...
yeh thats best, or a coping saw. Doesn't have to be mega neat as your putting a 182 cutout over it arent you? Cutting it when its less cured is less likely to lift the laquer really.
as said reset the trip and get a good average over a few days, if you haven't reset it since you have had it the car might have been sat running in an auction/ or thrashed.
yeh i would have thought that with it been a commemoration to someone. do you know if the car is going to be a daily drive? or to be kept for occasional use?
yeh it does. I say quite common, quite rare really but i think the gear wears and it can be temperamental, sometimes will work, sometimes will stick on hot or cold. a 182 of my mates did it just before he sold it but then started working again.
on the 182 its a fault with one of the servo gears normally either causing all very hot or very cold whatever you set the temp to. quite common and a stupid expensive repair because of the labour taking the dash out.
they are pretty good cars. Much better engine than the 1.2 16v both in quality and power delivery. Just check the usual things as well as things like handles to tilt seats for rear access works, the french checklist basically ;)
you could get away without reshelling it i reckon. But would need a very good repair shop to make sure it doesn't compromise its structural integrity. The beauty is you could just buy any mk2 shell and use the top section and stagger some good quality joints on each pillar and it would be fine...
i was going to bid on it the other day but ive got loads of cars in so was a bit short of cash. They bought it on bluecycle auto salvage and paid £3,465.00 for it.
they don't view them as scrap metal at all, if they are willing to sell the cars to the salvage traders as repairable post accident, then theyre obviously happy about them going back on the road. If you mention its a cat D to them they do ask for photos of repair etc sometimes, but don't mention...
doesn't come up on the insurance companies computer, you are wrong. Never had a problem insuring cat C/D vehicles, its not compulsory to perform an HPI check so you might never know.
check all round the car, people often tell you damage has been somewhere so you don't notice it elsewhere, take somebody in the know.Have a good look down the panels for paintwork etc. If you pull away the thick seal that goes all the way round the door where the rear quarter joins it gives away...
