As far as I understand its more a sort of helping they give they'll check parts out and problems and charge you for the fixing of the car but you need RAC etc cover. They do help ata good rate as such.

You need to check what temp your engine presently running the 172/182 run very to even on motorway but as for if you need one depends what oils your uing some good oil ie Motul/Millers and it can take higher temps.
