I know this topic has been covered loads - Ive read almost all of the related threads but Im really confused!
A spring has broken on the front drivers side of my car. Renault want £160 for two front springs (Id replace both) so this is obviously putting me firmly in aftermarket territory...
Ive just had a front drivers side spring break on my way home this evening. Oddly it appened right outside my house so I was able to recover the escaped piece from the road. Looks like its had a crack in it for a while and its finally gone ping tonite. a section about 4" long came off from where...
Not sure if this should go in the Engine section but anyway....
My 172 Cup is weeping power steering fluid from a sensor on a PAS pipe at the front drivers side of the engine.
I have a new sensor, will this cure the leak? Im told its a common problem - will the pipe be cracked or is it just...
Where can I buy a set of rear wheel bearings for my 172 Cup?
I have a Halfrauds trade card but they say they dont do them, and I begrudge going to Renault for them.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Thanks, I'll try the one wheel on tarmac idea and see what happens.
By provoked I mean if Im cornering hard and unweight the inside wheel while accelerating hard in a low gear.
I know the 172 Cup didnt come with an LSD from the factory (I think) but,
I have owned my Cup for 6 months and it never spins the inside wheel exiting a slow corner unless I REALLY provoke it. Also, the car doesnt suffer from much in the way of torque steer, even under hard acceleration in...
I have a 52 reg 172 Cup and the steering wheel is starting to "melt" and look rubbish.
I want to fit a new Renault steering wheel, what are my options?
Is the 182 wheel any more durable?
Can I fit the steering wheel from a 197?
I dont mind paying for a new wheel from the dealers, but Im...
Yeah, to be honest I got all doughey eyed when I saw it on the forecourt and just bought the thing. Id wanted one since they were new (I was an 18yr old student in 2002)
All the info in the service book adds up and it was HPI clear. I think the last owner before me got rid because it needed...
I bought my 52 reg 172 Cup in October '07 from Frauds of Winsford. The car had 26k miles on the clock and something like 6 previous owners.
I couldnt find anything to suggest the mileage was not genuine and the car appeared to be in good condition. I knew it had probably been thrashed, but I...
Just a thought,
If its losing power, hissing and stalling on occasion it sounds to me like youve got a problem with the engine drawing in air downstream of the throttle valve.
Check for leaks by spraying some WD40 or brake cleaner (carefully) around any gaskets on the inlet manifold - if...
Ive only had my 2002 Clio 172 Cup for two months. When I first got it the car used to beep every time I locked it with the fob. Then it used to beep occasioanlly when i locked it and now it never beeps when I lock it.
Any ideas?
Have a look at the ebay advert, then take a close look at the pictures of the "brand new" clutch advertised. Its clearly worn out - the friction plate should have slots in it, a bit like tread on a tyre. Also, the pressure plate looks grooved like a record. Cheeky!
Have a look at this "Brand New" Clutch kit advertised on ebay. Look at the pictures very carefully. Do you think this clutch looks brand new? Its for a Clio 172...
Heres a question:
If my immacualte car got stolen and then recovered in tact and returned to me by the police, would my insurance pay for any damage to my car?
For example scraped body work, nackered tyres, forced locks, thrashed to fook engine that now sounds like a bag of nails?
What...
Another thought if things are getting desperate.
Buy some cheap as f**k, much thicker engine oil and put it in. Im not suggesting you run it for long with the wrong oil but if the noise goes quieter/louder (more likely quieter) then you know its an internal problem with a follower or...
Its going to cost you a lot of money to fix the noise - even if you knew exactly what it was. Unless you are confident you know what the problem is Id be inclined to look out for a good replacement engine and do a complete swap.
Remember you wont need the starter motor, alternator, gearbox etc...
Are these on hydraulic lifters? It sounds exactly like a stuck lifter to me. If Im right you'll damage a cam lobe and the duff lifter by continuing to run it.
