melted steering wheel

I have a 52 reg 172 Cup and the steering wheel is starting to "melt" and look rubbish.

I want to fit a new Renault steering wheel, what are my options?

Is the 182 wheel any more durable?

Can I fit the steering wheel from a 197?

I dont mind paying for a new wheel from the dealers, but Im not sure how I will go on with changing the airbag unit over.

Any advice?

iirc the 197 wheel doesn't fit, if it did then i would fit one.

I'd go for a FF one, or a aftermarket steering wheel.

My FF 172 has done over 84,000 miles, and the steering wheel is still in great condition.

This worked for me - it really tidied up my wheel.

use the edge of a credit card & scrap the melted lumps off - small bits at a time till you get the hang of it - then you can be a little more vigrous.
