I had this exact same problem with my 172 Cup - exactly the same symptoms.
I fitted bosch super 4 plugs and the coil pack failed almost immediately. Im not sure of the cause, but its definitely related to the spark plugs (maybe difference in resistivity putting a greater load on the coilpack)...

Hi, just wondered what you improve by removing the acoustic valve?
Ive read lots of threads on thsi subject but I cannot make sense of it all really. Does the valve shut off one of the two air feeds to the airbox at some point to cut noise or something?
Can anybody explain what...
check the sensor attached to the dark green pipe - this leaked on mine. They cost about £50 to replace.
Try tightening carefully if its loose - but dont swing off it because you'll snap it off.
These storys vary from funny to outrageous to scary. I think the moral is that if you can find a good local independant garage then stick to them - they often survive on having a good reputation.
I'd actually think twice about purchasing a car that had a "Full Main Dealer Service History" over...
Ta very much!
Its standard apart from the exhaust and a set of Eibach springs (one of the standard ones failed)
Ive got plans on some improvements but its pretty good as it is. I had 4 Caterham wheels in the back when you saw me and it was still going well!
Did you ever have trouble with the...
Them roundabouts were very slippy, at one point I had it spinning the inside wheel in 3rd gear - bloody salt.
It's a stealthy powerflow stainless steel cat-back. I've never heard it from outside the car - is it chav loud or just a bit noisy?
Kev
Ive had 2 insurers - Virgin Money and Privilege - refuse to cover me because my car is modified.
I am 24. I have 6 years no claims and no convictions.
I drive a 172 Cup with Eibach suspension springs which have not altered the ride height, and a stainless steel exhaust which is completely...
Took my girlfriends fiat punto into the stealers (mangoletsi near knutsford) to have a power steering fault looked at.
We were told that the clutch was faulty and that this was causing the fault with the power steering. I asked them to explain how the condition of the clutch could influence the...
Hi, I am about to embark on the yearly ritual of obtaining a new insurance policy.
Can anybody recommend a good insurer? Have you had a good price for your insurance?
I just called Adrian Flux but the guy cut me off when I told him my car was worth "full marked value" rather than being tricked...
I was looking at replacing the bushes in my Cup's dogbone linkage with the stiffer poweflex ones.
Do these makea big difference?
What else can I do to minimise engine movement? (Without totally solid mounting it)
I was also toying with the idea of swapping the dogbone for two large rose...
Carefully pulling away from a set of traffic lights in the wet yesterday I got a lot of wheelspin despite being very careful with the throttle.
The point is that the dashboard shook violently as if the wheels were hopping. Im not a chav and I generally try to avoid wheelspin - this road was...
haha, yeah I'll have to try and keep tabs on her!
Her budget is £6k. I was leaning towards the brand new market for a more attractive finance deal and a decent warranty. Its all a bit of a minefield really.
Not so keen on the Seat's but the Mini One might be worth a look...would a decent Mini...
Please help.
Looking to buy a brand new / very nearly new car for my other half
We want to trade in her old Fiat Punto and ideally get something on 0% finance with a deposit. She's a supply teacher so will probably do around 15k miles per year.
Ive seen the Clio Campus advertised on the...
Does anybody know how to increase the rearward bias on a 172 Cup? I think the rears should be working a tiny bit more that they are - Im having real trouble keeping them rust free on the road. Ive gotten to the point where Ive been dragging the handbrake every now and then to try to clean the...
I tried with the car jacked up and then on its wheels. I also tried swearing at it but that didnt work either.
I'll nip round to a garage and see if they can crack the nuts for me.
Cheers
Please Help!
Have just attempted to remove the front struts from my 172 Cup and have hit problems!
The top nuts seem to be absolutely solid. I have gotten to the point where I have begun to damage the 6mm allen socket in the top of the shock absorber - I am worried it is going to round off...

Are these any good?
Thanks for the advice.
Ive put a shout out in the Wanted sectio for a pair of standard front springs. If that fails then I'll probably go with the Prolines.
Cheers
