Yeh, i was painting the arches the flicked off the brush to clean it and splattered it on my front end lol. I just worked the polish by hand and it came off in no time.
Brown tops are better than both i have found, as they are the revised versions renault currently sell.
I had the same prob as the op, used to buy £10 grey tops from ebay but they would last 2 months tops, got fed up and went to renault and it was fine ever since.
As said, try a clay bar 1st, then if not get a polish , i used megs #80 to get off some hammerite specs on silver paint. If thats no good try a more aggressive polish/compoud.
If you can't afford to insure the car in your own name you shouldn't have bought it, unless you are using the car rarely. Anyway's i'm 20 with elephant.
I drove my mates 172 after my std one, his had a decat, panel filter and remap(£350-£400 spent at the time), lower down it felt more gutsy and it revved a bit higher, however from a standing start upto 120 he managed to pull half a car ahead, then after putting on a full exhaust his rr figure...
Yeh tbh the full sevice history isn't a big deal, so long as its been looked after with regular oil changes and has reciepts for parts etc is more what i'd look for.
