Odd question but I've never had axle stands on both sides before. How did you do it? Like I say its probably a basic question but meh lol
I hate jacking cars...I feel as though the in my head physics are telling me its going to fall off!
I don't think I would trust ANYONE anyway to be honest. My car won't get more than the exhaust and maybe a panel filter anyway as engine mods are just asking for trouble imo.
I mean is there anyone on here thats reliably been using a turbo setup on their 172 for ten years? Probably not!!
Car is more or less all sorted. Just come back from my (local) garage today and had
Dogbone mount fitted
Coolant changed
Now the dogbone mount is bloody awesome! No more clunking and horrid noises. Car is slightly more vibratey but only when sat still at idle. Im more than happy to live with...
I was genuinly interested to be honest. I've always been against buying a car brand new unless you genuinly can afford it and its *spare* cash.
Leasing does sound like a fairly good option considering I've had my 172 for 3 months and so far its cost me at least £2500 buying it and repairs...
I would honestly aspire to one if it wasnt for the fact that.
Its actually quite expensive. It is only a hatchback after all.
Its a Ford. I can't name many cars they have made that were particularly noted for their sporting dynamics.
Every fucker in southend has one. Its the new corsa special...
Whats the score with lease? Is it as its sounds? Your basically hiring a car for £200ish a month? Im assuming if anything goes wrong it gets sorted free?
I've always said i preferred the Clio but think about it there is going to be SO many of these in the scrappies in a year or two. Makes much more sense getting one of these!
Still look like a people carrier though lol
Cheers bud the garage has fitted the dogbone and reported the noise is gone apart from an occasional knock. They suggested it could be the drivers side mount but it wasnt neccesary to replace it yet.
Well changing the dogbone Is just good practice from what I hear. The noise seems to be coming from the lower gearbox mount then as the noise feels like its near the front right wheel.
Getting much worse now it will even do it if I accelerate hard in 4th and 5th. The engine doesnt seem to be moving and the garage told me its the lower gearbox mount.
Is this the dogbone mount? As I have already purchased a powerflex one that needs to be fitted. Is it likely to be this that is...
Nah It wasnt coming on at all. The problem seemed to point to the rectangle connector at the bottom of the headlight (in engine bay) seems fine at the moment but will get them to swap it for a new one. Way I see it is that I gave it to them without that problem which is how I want it back.
My...
Its all done now and set me back a lot of money. Had I been at home this whole facade could have been avoided. But thats what happens when you work away I guess.
Whats also annoyed me is that the car is all done and as I turn out the garage the indicators are going spastic. Check the...
Bad news and something I should have seen coming tbh. That exhaust rattling noise wasnt the new exhaust.
It was the alternator that some crazy fool decided to only have bolted in one place meaning....yep you guessed it...it snapped off explaining why my belt came off.
So im looking at a nice...
Im hoping i was just tired after a nightshift and misunderstood the garage but im sure they said parts came to £178 then i go online and find this...http://renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/products/Renault-Clio-172-Alternator-Belt-Kit.html for £60
Im hoping there must be a mix up as im not paying that...
Not getting the part till tomorrow and wont get the caf back till the day after. To be honesg I would rather have spent the cash on some decent front tyred or a whiteline ARB. But I guess these things happen...
The main guy seems alright. Been there a couple of times over niggly things and they haven't charged me or anything. I'll see how It goes and what they say. I can usually smell bs a mile off :)
Funny you should say that optical as I made sure I covered up just in case lol
The fact the temperature got high (barely above the halfway mark tbh) and boiled the coolant...thats not going to cause any damage is it?
Its majorly fucked me off as I bought it off the boss at reno tec on the understanding it had had ALL belts changed etc as well as a new alternator.
Maybe its just a failurr I hope it doesnt relate back to them
