such a wrong colour. it's taken over from 80's white
it didn't even look good on cars like the Miura and Stratos, which i guess is where it's coming from. 70's throw-back colour
it seems to vary a lot (check the parts that they're replacing) but i paid about £500 for a reconditioned box plus about £400 to have it fitted. as said, going to vary a lot. cheapest option will be a decent s/h box fitted by someone who doesn't take the mikey with the labour - guess you could...
academic now, but the ECP part number i was given for the donuts was 609740031. the one in that picture doesn't look right (?) - not sure what the threaded cup is on the bottom of the donut (unless it's a new top nut that they've put on the wrong end in the photo)
about £50/pair, incl the...
definitely the Audi for me, primarily for the noise. only ever seen/heard them at shows - would be great to hear one in the atmosphere of a forest stage or similar
someone once turned up in a 6R4 at a clubman autotest i had a go at - didn't run it though - just showing off presumably!
can i ask you a quick question? i'm lvl.22 at the minute and think i'm close to leaving the second area (with skagzilla in it) - how much more's left? just wondering if i should rent for another week, or buy
really enjoying this - very addictive
not sure about the particular car you've got, but they usually knock off the end of the driveshaft
you can buy 'stretchy' replacement boots that will go on without having to remove the CV, if the joint can't be taken off the end of the shaft
tbh, despite what i've said, it's easiest just to...
you can renew the boots but the CV will need cleaning out thoroughly to remove any grit that will have made its way in. if it's been like that for a while, you may already have damage to the joint (can be inspected once they're off)
can't believe how sharply they 'turn in'. pretty impressive
wouldn't fancy missing one of those turns - sort of imagine them being launched skywards by the banking
for standard mounts, you've got the Renault parts; pattern parts from suppliers like ECP/GSF/etc; Kangoo diesel mounts (which may or may not be stiffer than the Clio's - still don't know!)
'uprated' mounts; you've got the Powerflex poly dogbone bushes; the Vibratechnics mounts that KTEC sell...
easy to tell if it's the matrix as you'll have lost coolant; it also tastes sweet, so that's another easy identifier. it's poisonous though, so don't overdo it
otherwise, maybe aircon fluid (?) or, most likely, rain water that's collected somewhere and flooded (check for leaks in the scuttle...
a friend recommended me this and i've rented it - initially unimpressed, but it's now starting to come alive - takes a few hours to warm to it
might actually buy this one
what grade was the Carlube you've just put in it, and did it feel any different beforehand?
they seem sensitive to the correct grade (75/80) and a decent quality of oil - defo worth trying that before anything else
i didn't bother torquing mine - just 'tight'. it's definitely worth loctiting the lower nut that holds that bolt on from underneath, as they work loose
not where you're heading, but fitting something like the 90mm Hella headlamps is something i'd be interested in trying (driving lamp conversion, basically). only problems are that they're expensive and would require some effort to fit
depends how bad it is i guess - could try renewing the oil and engine mounts to see if that makes it any easier. probably best to find one that doesn't crunch if you're shopping for one
sometimes; they can be awkward for it though
ECP are often a pain to deal with - worth trying GSF (CS members get a 10% discount as well)
i think someone on here's recommended these guys before - http://www.biggred.co.uk/; there'll be others about
what's wrong with the one you're wanting to replace? you can sometimes ressurect them if they've become sticky. they're only usually a write-off if they're very bad, or the bleed nipple has snapped
