If you know the undertaking your even thinking about you wouldn't even thing about this the chnaging of the brakes and suspension and hubs would take about 10 minutes to do when the cars having the transplant done and that taking your time.
Its been done though V6 I think would be funnier...

Anyway just get it serviced now all this following the rules is useless Renault rules were created to lower the running cost there not the optimim for the car.
Check the gearbox has enough oil in it.
Does it happen when the engines/gearbox has bene going for some time ie the oils warm?
Did you use the right or semi right gear oil spec wise?
The ECU on your car in in the center of the engine bay at the back of the engine as such check the metal cover ontop of it and all the fuses and relays near the battery
The phase 2 cars (all of the ie Cup etc) have the electric throttl bodies
Do a search for the pics.
Why not do the better idea of sung a Williams/megana bottom end and either a William or a valver or portered (williams or valver) head?

£100 or so from Renault for a set.
Try replace it ASAP its there for a reason and willget rid of the problem. Its just good practice to fix cars when there broken.
Drop BenR a message or search out some post he did about some cheap Chinese rods £300 or os for a set they are fine and strong.
As for pistosn there laods to choice Yozzasport have a set depends ifd your haing the block skimmed etc for the piston choicne and CR.
V6 will always win s speeds climbe thoug as the power realy will start to make its difference as power to wieight don't matter as much as speeds build.

Just strip it down yourself your wires/relays are probably corroded not miss wired.
Not of the top of me head it has been posted before last time i remember it was 16V_jon who posted them.
172 Mk2 phase 2 has the shortest ratios of the cars but do you need a speedo sensor as a normal 172 phase 2 don'rt have a gearbox speedo sensor the Cup does though.
The 182 uses a bolted in circlip or something I forget exactly but its better any gearbox specilaist should know how to do it.
The 1.2 box is supposed to be quite good strenght wise not sure about for rallying though.
