gear oil and PAS fluid are v similar, although, if there's a red tint to the oil, it'll be PAS fluid
need to have a good look underneath the car to see where it's coming from
have you a Haynes? the 01-04 manual (think that's your model) says you 'just' remove the surrounding trim and that the lever unbolts from the floor - lifts out into the cabin
which one has snapped? have seen pictures of top mounts and upper g/box mounts that have separated (not a 'common' problem, but can happen with mounts of their type). it's probably time to renew all of the mounts, so that they're all starting afresh
the dampers are about £50/ea and the springs aren't going to be that expensive. the whole lot's fairly easy to fit. could spray the damper bushes with WD to see if that sorts it temporarily - eliminates one possible cause quickly anyway
second vid - mine does the same; i'd not thought it a problem but would be interested to know if it is
the nut is a seperate component to the cup (they're pressed together somehow) and i couldn't see why it might cause a problem as the cup's only there to stop the strut from pulling through...
most important thing to do (really) is to be sure it'll seal properly - it's all explained in the instructions that come with it, but rig it up without filling the bottle with fluid first and check very carefully that it's air tight. if it's not, it'll spray brake fluid everywhere. they're...
Halfords are shocking for batteries. you generally find that the longer the guarantee period, the more expensive they are. Bosch don't have the greatest rep. for batteries (that i've heard - no experience though). another possible source is an actual main dealer (doesn't matter which...
all of the coolant hoses are fairly accessible for inspection at the front end so, if it's not related to one of those, think you're left with the rad itself
yep, sorry - steering rack bushes
i'd just renew the bottom arms as it sounds as though they need doing anyway because of your balljoints (if you buy complete arms/triangles, they'll come with pre-installed inner bushes and an outer balljoint). there are quite a few other rubber bushes in the...
aye, top mounts sit on top of the spring in the strut assembly
rack bushes are expensive for what they are - £40/pair. they do come with new clamps and bolts/nuts though (whoop)
as said, wandering could well be bottom arm bushes
could be lots of things - wheel/bolt problem, hub/bearing, damper, spring, beam bushes, arb(?), exhaust loose
you'd have to put it up on a stand and have a good look, testing various bits unless the cause is obvious
someone put an additive in it when i had the cambelt and a few other bits done, and i can't remember what it was that was used. could fire up another thread and ask for recommendations.
regarding what might happen if/when it goes - difficult to say really. mine seized (which can obviously be...
presumably the OP's amended his Photobucket site - could PM?
it's not at all difficult to do without piccies though - drain plug is on the bottom of the casing, at the back (looks identical to the engine sump plug); filling hole is a little more difficult to find - on the front of the casing...
bad news about the diagnosis - bring on the pain:dapprove:
it's probably a bearing that's suffered due to lack of lubrication - noise is often the first symptom and they can go on for quite a while before they seize/break up (if they ever do). same happened with mine - slight noise from the...
hope it's not the diff then. it does sound like a bearing and seems quite loud - and you're obv. closer the diff than the hub
i'd stick the front end up on stands and have someone else drive the wheels to see if it does it then - should allow you to judge where it's coming from
speed related's going to be something to do with the tyre, wheel, brakes, hub/bearing, driveshaft, diff. doesn't help particularly - just gives you a list, in ascending order of expense/difficulty
if it was defo listed against your model (and Halfords haven't mucked up the codes or anything), they probably offer two types - renewable element (what you've got) and a sealed canister. you could use the element you've bought if your existing canister can be taken apart, but the sealed one's...
it's going to be fairly easy to do and lots of hatches with rear beams like the Clios do it readily - probably won't be able to feel it - just 'needs' a slow, sharp corner taken with a little enthusiasm. it's not dangerous - people aren't going straight to hell or anything
you've just bought the paper element - some filter canisters can be taken apart so that you just renew the element. what's your motor? do you just need a sealed filter?
longer bolts is a going to help although i did (eventually) manage to use the original ones when i did mine. it was v fiddly though - one hand to use a screwdriver to push the clamp in, other hand for the nut/bolt
are the discs also new? and have you bedded the pads in already?
you're likely to find one wheel locking before the other but if it's pulling noticeably to one side or the other before locking, could be you've an imbalance between the calipers - check pistons/sliders are both free. bunch of...
i think most of these guys are talking about their 2 litre engines, which are definitely noisy once decatted and fitted with a sports exhaust. which is the engine in your Dynamique? the principles may be the same but it might not be quite as noisy in comparison (?).
generally, it'll probably...
