Ben,
Out of the factory Renault never made a 1.7ltr turbo, they made 1.4, 1.6, 2ltr and 2.2ltr turbos thou.
They would have used the 1.7ltr turbo over a 1.4 ltr in an R5GTT if they had done but there wasnt really enough room in one of those for it lol!
The 1.6 turbo is the closest you would...
Scott,
to start with these cars were 1.4ts and not 1.7ts (as they never made a 1.7t)
They came with 105bhp as standard (same as the mk1 5GTTs)
Im not sure if Renault ever made a 1.6ltr turbo thou (as in the fuego) but thats going back a bit
Tony:D
MC,
i think what everyone is getting at is that there is more to it than just converting the engine, you would also have to upgrade the suspension, the brakes, possably the wheels (for the brakes) so it would work out more expensive and the insurance would class it as highly tuned (by adding...
16v,
thats a little silly and quite dangerous isnt it?
Letting the car get part way past then flooring it, say another car comes round the corner and idiot in other car still is trying to overtake you, it wont just be him thats killed it will also be the car on his side of the road and...
I bought a 309gti with 101k miles on the clock, the engine was great felt like new (but it did have full PSH) and i kept the car for 10k more miles before selling her, unfortunately the rest of the car was a wreck (well parts of it ie the rear beam ) but if looked after and has fsh you should...

There are some rarer 1.6 rallyes out there, these are quite tunable too (have a mate who lives in stoke who had one, pushing out around 150bhp!)
light and manouverable, good little car
Tony
LV saved me 300 quid on my renewal
Tescos were well out of it (nearly 500 quid difference) and direct line were 300 quid off (who i was with before) so they get the vote off me but i would call them rather than use the on line quote (and the fact they only insure over 30s on my type of car...

Are you sure you mean an RS2 as you put down there or an S2?
The RS2 is 315ps so somewhat quicker than the S2 and with low 5 secs to 60 and a Porsche tuned engine/brakes etc it was one amazing car

If you dont want to follow it, it basically says it sucks big time!
Tony
Look guys,
you are all beginning to fall into the "its better for your car" category due to the fact you feel its better for your car because its running leaner and giving you the feeling its running better....
The fact is that if your car runs leaner its more prone to det, det kills your...
LOL! actually the scooby is a better handling car than the GTiR which are known to be crap in the handling department.
The GTiRs need serious upgrades to be anywhere near as competetive as the cosworth, evo, subarus out there, they are actually the black sheep of the performance family as they...

Joe,
re the earth straps for cars.... hmmmm rubber tyres?
Wasnt it suppose to stop you getting travel sick or something stupid? so why not just take the tables you can get
Eddd,
i do actually get better performance running SUL or Optimax then again my ecu is set to run on 97ron fuel and...
Why not arrange a day at the races just have a meet up point thats fairly central, have a coach ordered, have an early breakfast ordered at a nice pub that will open at 8am 4 u
You cant beat a full english with orange juice and a pint of beer
Tony
Oh BTW, if you start running GTiRs above 1bar of pressure, be sure to have lots of cash saved up for a new engine they can run safely upto about 300bhp and after that they need big work on em
(and better brakes, bigger wheels, better clutch etc )
As for the evo6 (or 6.5 TME) 0-60 in 4.8...
Ta Joe i knew it was something like that
Basically this device is bypassing sensors that actually tell the ECU what air/fuel mixture it should be getting, what it is getting is something different and thus the reason Brun had lumpy idle?
The ECU didnt know what was happening and couldnt...
OK,
octane, means better burning fuel gives more power usually and for me better MPG
Ecotek... adds air, makes leaner running, leaner running on my car is not something i want as it causes det and kills my engine.....
hmmmmmm let me see....
put ecotek on car, blow engine up... not good...
