as above, it failed mot due to having 150 efficiency on rear nearside and 40 on rear offside. i told them it's low on the rears anyway and showed them the vosa newsletter. they weren't having anything and charged me to fit a new caliper, and it looks like they've cable tied the valve up, i guess...
hi, my pas pump is making the same noise all the time (except neutral position) that you usually only get on full lock. i've also got a leak somewhere but the reservoir isn't going down. i've also got fluid inside the pressure sensor.
so rather than replace the pump and the sensor, should i bin...
hi, as per title. gap isn't all the way around. should i be able to see daylight between c.50% of the arb and the bush?
if worn, original or powerflex?
these are the inside bushes, not the ends
cheers
think it came through at 0.28 and a fail is 0.30
car drives fine, sometimes feels a bit sluggish but not overly so, not enough to make me want to fix it yet. mpg is par for the course.
am i likely looking at a lambda sensor?
hi, according to garage one of my rear calipers is knackered. they quoted me £300 to change it! which i politely declined. so need to find one myself, do other cars or clios use the same caliper?
thanks, kristian
i've undone all the pipework as far as the long pipe under the car that goes into the brake load sensing valve and there's no brake fluid!
can anyone tell me, does this long pipe go straight to the master cylinder?
if so, either that long pipe has been damaged somewhere or the master...
hi, surprise surprise my cup has failed on its rear brakes.
apparently its recording 150% efficiency on passenger side
and 40% efficiency on driver side
i've read that they normally record 25-30% on the rear so 40% is relatively good, but bit surprised by the difference between passenger...
I can't get the head of the manifold onto the studs, it won't angle over far enough as the top of the manifold/cat join is hitting the bottom of the bulkhead. should i slacken off the engine mounts and pivot the engine back a bit, or is this not gonna work with driveshafts etc in place?
Hi, I need to pull it apart to slice down the rubber bung. Do pull the bit with the nozzles off, or split the cylinder? Neither seems easy to budge. Thanks

hi all, budgie from here helped (= did most of the work) take the gearbox off my car and i'm going to attempt to refit it on the weekend. i've got plenty of bolts but not sure where they are from. i could probably figure it out as i go along by powers of deduction, but figure i may as well try...
hi, the price of coolant direct from renault has really dropped in price, you can get the 5 litre bottle for £10 + the vat. dunno if this is common knowledge but worth a mention.
i can pull the handbrake all the way up but it drops down again to the first click. is it the ratchet or the cog teeth? can it be repaired or is it all pop rivets and stuff?
i lent on my handbrake and it popped down a couple of teeth, now it only comes up a couple of teeth, anything further and it won't hold. is it possible to shear the teeth off by leaning on it?
dunno if this has been posted, but get a free calendar here:

hi, thought i'd look through some other threads about rear discs and i've read about spacers breaking apart when removing old discs. is this the same thing as the abs rings?
if not, abs rings or abs magnets- or does it not matter on a cup?
cheers, kris
hi, my car is overheating and no hot air in cabin.
when i got to the shops earlier the engine fan was on which i thought strange. checked the coolant tank and it was empty! 2 litres went straight in. on way home engine getting hot but kept cool cause of the ambient temperature.
what's up?
hi, i had my gearbox replaced and tracking was off, car pulling to the right (and more than a little bit). just been to get the tracking sorted and it's spot on. i'm going to take it to another place after work for a second opinion, but the first place i've used twice this year and always happy...

i've looked into this (using firstline.co.uk web catalogue) and the above parts have the same...
hi, gearbox is currently out of the car as it's busted. i've got a replacement on it's way. is there anything i should look at replacing while the box is out? i've got clutch and bearing. anything else?
cheers
hi, does anyone have a pic of clio gearbox linkage? i can't get a gear at the moment (that's another thread) and the linkage feels a bit loose when you get under the car and wiggle it. would be good to see if there is anything missing from mine.
(it's a 172 cup, don't know if that makes a...
pulling out of a junction today i changed into second and had no drive. pulled over and i can't select any gears. i got under the car and moved the linkage around on the gearbox end (not the gear stick end) and it feels very loose. is there anything obvious i can check or is it likely something...
i fitted new ball joints last weekend along with new track rods and track rod ends, and the knocking when hitting bumps went away. for about three days. everything is still tight, but now there is vertical play again on the driver side wheel. assuming the ball joint hasn't already died, would...
