Joe - as vocal as ever...we like that! *LOL* Im not about to change anything on my 172 just yet....Ill be testing a Cup car in the next week or so and gauging the difference in the handling dept. The handling of the 172 is good, but it can be improved, and I fully intend to find out how best to...
Well said sandys!
CUPSIZE? STOP SHOUTING!! TAKE YOUR FRIGGIN CAPS LOCK OFF!
If you re-read the post, youll see that I never suggested that just changing the wheels would give a std 172 the handling of a Cup car! I was merely assessing what has been uprated on the Cup and how you might...
Expensive...not really. Have you seen the price of the US-made Car Bras? And theyre mass-produced! The quality is superb.....Neils won loads of awards for his interiors/trimming, mainly on street rods.

Thanks Nick! BTW, are you sure about the greater the offset the further in the wheel will be? My old Fiesta turbo ran ET35 (which is correct) and when I fitted some ET41 Escort wheels to it they sat further out i.e. closer to the wheel arch.
Neils Auto Interiors in Rayleigh, Essex will make you a custom car bra. Neil makes them for all the hot rod boyz and made me one for my Fiesta turbo a few years back.

Thanks for the replies. I am hoping to see a Clio Cup in the flesh and see what offset is stamped on the Speedline alloys on it. It may then be worth sourcing some alloys of the same offset to achieve the same track as a Clio Cup on a std 172.
The geometry change on the front dampers is quite...
Thanks Nick! Ill measure up the spare wheel and see. 48.5mm seems a huge offset, and it would appear that the Clio Cup has even greater offsets?!
If it is 48.5mm, then using 35mm offset after-market wheels will affect the handling, surely?

Just checked the std 172 16" alloys and they are 7x16 ET48.5
48.5mm offset - is this correct? If so, that means the Cup wheels are 68.5mm front and 58.5mm rear. Surely this isnt right?

OK, just popped into Toomey Renault at the weekend (in Essex) and they are getting a 172 Cup in a fortnight, for demo The salesman handed me a 172 Cup brochure which led me to wonder....
* 20mm increased front offset
10mm increased rear offset
This sounds like it has been achieved...
Arjun (ak_uk) has a Powerflow on his Mk2 172, as approved by HillPower. Quote "The Powerflow system was a very good set up and
good quality the fit was to the car so no probs there. Arjun requested a
system that was not obvious and this was no prob either. If you want a
custom system for...
