There seems to be a plethora of options - Eibach, AVO, Apex, plus BB Tuinings own kit, and K-Tecs spring/damper setup - most of which claim to improve the std setup.
I know some of you have tried the AVO setup, mainly via Hillpower, and found them rather hard and too much for the std dampers...
Interesting stuff!
I spoke to Nick Hill @ Hillpower about these R-Sport ECUs and it seems he used to deal with them when they were Radbourne Racing. Apparantly the ECUs are far from being ready since at present they yield less bhp than a std 172 - you actually lose power! So, a fair bit of...
My import 172 is coming up for a year old now and Ive only managed 4.5k miles! Do I need to have a 12 month service/check to validate the 2/3 year warranty or can I wait until 12k miles?
Thanks for the help! I actually quizzed this Renault Service guy and asked how "cars made in the same factory to the same specification can be singled out just because they have been imported." After all, every car is an import!! If RUK deny the existance of such a manual then Ill just steer...
OK, so I have a little list of things to be fixed on my import 172 (bought May 2002). I phoned a nearby Renault garage up, and was immediately asked if it was an import! According to the bloke on the phone they have a book on what is and isnt covered on imports and whats different e.g. certain...
The car has done 4500 miles now, since May last year and has been fine up until a few weeks ago. Ill take it into Renault and see what they have to say...
My 172 (mk2) has started pulling to the left, which is a right pain in the a&*%. Ive checked the tyre pressures - they are fine. The car has not had any heavy knocks or hit anything which might send the tracking out.
So, any ideas on what it might be and how it can be fixed, BEFORE I go...
Thanks for all the posts. Having been pleasantly suprised with my V6 test drive I was curious as to how much they could be had for. Around £20k s/h seems the norm, with any colour other than silver being pretty impossible to source.
My dealer reckons the new one is out in July, as does the...

Went for a test drive in one earlier this week - absolutely fabulous, even in torential rain!!
Does anyone know what colours Renault made the V6 in (Ive only ever seen silver), can you buy one on import, what do they cost (new/import/second-hand) and any really annoying problems with them...

Hmm, interesting! I think its the old adage of "if it aint broke, dont fix it!". The std gearchange is perfectly smooth/fine for me and I cant really see how much more you can improve on it, especially for £200!
For those that are happy with the kit, Id be v.interested to hear details of the...
Just heard today that UCS, now trading as CarStore in Glasgow, have gone into liquidation :o
Apparantly, the company has left a _lot_ of very unhappy customers....the liquidators reckon one dealer is owed 600,000 Euros, another £100,000 and some poor woman ordered and paid £12k for her car...

So the general concencus is that the Eibachs really sort the 172 handling out - lowering it nicely, no scrubbage (even with 17s), evening out the choppy ride (as std) and sorting the nervousness out at high speed?????
I must say, having been out in Arjuns on AVOs, it handled well, but was very...
I think you are jumping to conclusions here....for all we know, Renault could have capped the BHP of the race engines to 180 for their own reasons - longevity and reliability over a seasons racing spring to mind.
Just because they chose to extract only 180bhp, this doesnt mean that this is the...
Err, not quite. Youve forgotten the fundamental difference between a road-going 172 and a Clio Cup race-car....the Sadev sequential gearbox. As you should well know, 0-60 times are affected by gear ratios and Ill put money on the fact that the race car has totally different ratios to the road car!
Personally, Id tell Motorpoint to stick their 172 where the sun dont shine! Its obviously not a proper 172 and, no matter how long youve waited, I wouldnt spend your hard earnt money with them - theres plenty of threads on here about people who have had poor service from this company...
If the...
