Oh well that's me officially out of ideas, two different calipers, two different sets of slider pins, two different hoses. Still has trouble budging when you apply pressure on brakes and then take your foot off :( Guess i will have to throw in the towel and take it to a garage... I just can't...
Yeah hopefully man! Part comes tomorrow so fingers crossed this is the issue. Week and a half ordering/waiting on parts to fix this, everything else was done in 3 days at a leisurely pace with painting stuff. Hopefully this thread will help someone if they ever run into the same issue haha...
Ok well i'm sure it's not the caliper now, as i've tried two different calipers, two different sets of slider pins, so now i've ordered a new hose. Surely it has to be the hose :( The other side works completely fine with fitting the same duplicate parts as the other side.
It's more fun to try new things and learn :) The amount of times crap has gone wrong for me when working on cars (bolts snapping, bits not fitting) makes me think "ugh wish I never bothered now", but after a while you just laugh about it and think "glad I done it myself"!
Hi again, I've been thinking it over the past day and I just remember something stupid i did that might have caused the issue of the caliper sticking to the disc even after pedal pressure has been released.
Basically when i bled the brakes i still had the caliper swinging up on the slider pin...
thanks for the suggestions I will try these things, thought i'd do the other side to see if the same thing happens and typical one of the little screws holding the disc to the hub has rounded and i can't get it off lol arrrghhh! anyway thanks i'm sure i'll be back at some point :)
Well I just filed down the old pads and dropped them in pretty easy, no joy. Here are some pictures hopefully someone can point out something that i've just completely overlooked...
Thanks for the ideas guys, so far the slider pins are moving freely in the carrier tried my old ones and the brand new ones, i've bled about 500ml through till there was no air. Caliper piston moves both in and out easily. Pads are moving some what easy in the carrier i think i'll file down the...
Just bog standard pads, I don't think it's the pads i've had the new ones and the old ones one that slid in easy. When you pump the pedal you can't move the disc, even when you start the car up the disc is solid and wont move.
Hey, I decided to overhaul my suspension and brakes so i bought all new suspension parts and also braking i bought new calipers, slider pins, discs and pads. Now i've finished everything on the O/S and bled the brakes had a little shot on my drive way stops fine, then took it up the road and...
Custom K-Tec catback exhaust, drop it 30-40mm on springs or nice set of coilovers, spacers, 172 fuel injectors, remap, decent panel filter. That's what I plan to do if I ever get a Twingo GT 1.2 TCE.
Quick question on the n/s driveshaft. I changed both a while back and drained the gearbox oil and refilled it. Anyway I'm planning on doing a full front suspension and brake upgrade and was wanting to take the hub off for painting and sand down and de-rust paint the drive shaft. If I pull out...
When I did mine a year ago I just got the Gates PowerGrip kit with waterpump included. Still seems to be going strong no issues so far, even though it has only done about 3000 miles.
Cool little car! I know what you mean about getting attached, i've had my little 1.2 for 10 years now, don't think i'll ever get rid of it. I prefer working on it and buying things for it than I do my megane.
Did you ever find out the dimensions of the bolts, nuts and washers required for each of the four corners? as I'm looking to refresh the front suspension on my 1.2 but can't find the information on the bolts needed to connect the wishbones to the subframe.
thanks
People have said a few pages back that it is necessary to loosen the cam pulleys regardless if you're changing the dephaser, I'm just wondering why you need to loosen them? what is the purpose? Genuine question, I'm just interested in the process I think I understand the majority of it :) thanks
Hey,
Been searching the thread and couldn't find a definitive answer. Anyone know if the Powerflex dogbone bushing kit PFF60-211K would fit this dogbone mount...
Ah yes I have a spare set that I can get ultrasonic cleaned, will give that a try and just overhaul everything like coil pack, sparks, o2 sensor in the new year. Car needs a good overhaul being 12 years old, still got lower wishbones to fit that I bought ages ago.
thanks again
Hey,
I've got this issue with my Clio where some times if the car has been left for a day or two the first few minutes of driving the car will hesitate and lose speed with no acceleration. Basically you will feel the car losing power and when you press the accelerator nothing will happen, until...
