Electric sunroof on a Mk1 (P reg). The motor turns but the sunroof doesn't open - can hear the gears clicking but it sounds like they are failing to stay engaged (bit like a load sensor on an electric window). Any ideas? Or is this going to be an expensive trip to a dealer?

Honestlt its not too bad a job, the rears will take 5 minutes, fronts a bit longer because theyre awkward. For really awkward you want to try doing the sidelight bulbs - thats the real killer.

yup, problem 1 = suspension top mount. Problem 2 sounds like it needs a peep from an auto electrician.
