My mate has a 20vt, only with the REVO remap can he come close to the 172. Without it, to be honest, it sucks! Nice inside though, seats are cool. Shame the radio would be a pain to change, Im too used to my mp3 ones now!
Handling in the 20vt is also awful as standard. Hes put eibach springs...
9835 power comes from the ISO block - unlike the old 9815 which had a separate lead.
Maybe its not so power hungry now because they added the DC/DC converter back in. Oh and its fused at 15 Amps instead of 20 like the 9815
(Yes Ive got / had both units).
Doesnt the bottom button do the tracks?
You can go forwards but cant go backwards.
The scroll wheel thing is for folders on mp3 discs or cds in the changer.
Alpine do one without a screen that plays DVDs.
Above that model are the ones with builtin screens.
Theyre the D300 R (or R/B) and the D900 as linked to in the post above.
The D900 is old now but the screen is about 4x higher resolution than anything else available on the market.
The...
lol @ Pete
CocoPops,
Yes the mount was custom made. Found some scrap aluminium in the garage, bent it a bit, painted it with some stuff (paint!) and then fixed the laser thing to it with a sticky pad used for reg plates.
Took a while to do - with the paint drying and all - but worth it in...
Ok, so you can put it in like everyone else and have a nice wire dangling over your screen, with suction cups that get in the way and fall off every so often... OR you can copy me and do it properly ;-)...
I paid £80 odd to have a £250 (converted U.S price) radio imported. I think youll be looking at slightly more than £100 to get that into the UK.
Youd be better off trying to find a second hand one here instead.
FYI, the blade fuse holders were from Maplin - They were a few quid I think. Dont attempt to bullet them on or anything, the bullets arent rated to that sort of current.
I was always under the impression only 1 speaker cut out - in which case its unlikely to be the HU power supply at all. Of...
Well Ive gone and ordered it :-)
Thank guys, looking forward to installing it now! Looks like Ill need to run some more power cables to the boot :-(
Thanks for the hint about the speed sensor. I noticed that as being a potential problem when I was looking at the pdf manual. I had a big...
Just make sure the radio works in this country, I believe the TMC signals use the FM band. Also, I dont suppose the US model will do RDS, EON, Traffic Info etc. I had an Alpine 9815 from the states and it didnt do any of that - they just dont have / use it over there.
The units also use XM...
Blimey that was fast!
Ok, so if you dont mind me asking a couple of questions... here goes!
What do you / can you plug into the HU?
Is it just like 1 lead that then goes to that other box, and then everything else runs off that? i.e. RCAs, CD Changer, Speakers, Video Inputs, NAV input etc...
Im thinking of buying one (spare of the moment thing!) and the DVD sat nav NVE-N099P unit.

Just wanted to know what the HU is like, and also how...
That rolling road looks totally awesome! Oh and by the looks of it, they deal with Dastek Unichips too. :D
Handy for people who want one fitted, or maybe double checked!
Pull it harder!
I posted pics of mine all taken apart the other day for cleaning.

April, if yours cuts out, its probably that crappy yellow fuse thing we had to fit.
Ive got about half a dozen nice sealed (well, splash proof!) blade type fuse holders that can easily replace that yellow one.
You know I dont do anything all day, bite your tongue and drop the car off one...
They recommend a direct feed on the 2003 models but my 2004 one doesnt say anything.
Not only that, the power wires are into an ISO plug on the 2004 models and on the 2003 ones they were left with a heavy duty bullet connector.
I guess they did something inside the unit to make it as...
Who did you go out with? Not a bloke called Ken was it? I think hes the new workshop manager, taken over from Andy again.
The couldnt fix my buzzing noise either.... infact its worse now than the last time they looked at it.
So tempting just to order another car.... trouble is, it would...
Lee, have you tried disconnecting the battery for a period of time?
When mine went through a stage of not starting first time, thats what I did and it cured the problem.
Of course it could have just been a fluke!
My crossovers are in the boot.
The amp power cable runs through the same grommet the bonnet release and alarm cables do. I also ran one for the HU but my new one doesnt need it.
So power runs down the left side of the car, RCAs down the middle and speaker cable down the right.
only the front door speakers use the standard loom (and only from where the crossover cables connect via the ISO extension connector). The rest of the speaker cable in the car is some stinger twisted stuff I got from http://www.caraudiodirect.comwww.caraudiodirect.com
I wonder what that cable...
Assuming theyre dual voice coil, both coil at 4ohms, you could:
both coils in series (8ohms), subs in series (16ohms)
or
both coils in series (8ohms), subs in parallel (4ohms)
or
both coils in parallel (2ohms), subs in series (4ohms)
or
both coils in parallel (2ohms), subs in...
My MB Quart components come with a little metal bracket that looks like the following:

You just screw that onto the bottom of the tweeter using the nuts + bots provided. Its long enough to bridge the gap on either side of...
