What did the police say? I wouldn't bother with getting a private plate as when the transfer request goes in they will see what the police are seeing and either reject the transfer or probably call the car in for inspection.

To reply to the above poster - Of course it is largely down to how you drive any car, but the point is without ABS the car is that little bit harder to keep on the road. I don't think there is anyway you can argue against that.

IMO that could quite easily be a 25-30mph crash.
I hit a lamp post at about 10mph and it fucked the bonnet and bent the front cross member and buggered the bumper.
If you do break it I will take the fuses and the fuse cover off your hands ASAP!
