About 90% of 172 owners have this problem: do a search under banging under acceleration. It is the engine mount beneath the battery that has become loose and needs tightening. Ring SMC Renault Woking to find out how common this problem is - if your garage cant fix it get them to call them and...
I was paranoid of the garage finding out when i needed some warranty work doing. And i thought it was causing idling problems (it wasnt), but have never got round to putting it back in! (lazy) Its still in the car, just sat behind the passengers seat in the flap......I just use the force from...
this r-sport chip sounds like it does exactly what my group N ecu (no longer installed) does. Raises rev limit to 7800 and feels torqueir lower down the rev range.
If anyone wants to try it out on their mk.1 172s id be happy to let them.......you may even wanna buy it? ;)
Live just down the road from there, well, about 15 miles away. Its in an old chicken shed and 2 friends owned 2 205s and they took their cars there. The work seemed ok. I cant really remember if they had any problems with them.
You can get good mpg if you want it, just like in any car. Im sure its less gutsy than your 320 being a 6-pot and everything.
Hey i know of one for sale...... ;)...
Mine too. Did it very early on, as soon as the power picks up in 1st gear at around 4k+.
It was fixed at SMC Woking (where EVO takes/took their old V6) and that lasted a long time->it was ok until now and its doing it again.GREAT. Just as i want to sell it too. Woking told me that its...
Just wondering who in here mk.1 or mk.2 i dont mind has had Banging under acceleration and when it occured (how many miles) and whether your dealer has fixed it etc.
Mk.1 172 2001 at about 2000 miles and was fixed at SMC Woking
cheers, si
try your spare key as well. May be that your battery is on the blink in the key fob? i needed mine replaced after like a week! great!
After then it was the immobiliser. Theres a special wire that i had to wiggle (as instructed by AA man) to get it to start when i was stranded. It seems to...
nice one, hope you enjoy your new car.
Yeah the dealers would say that, just so that you dont claim anything under warranty. "Yes sir, you need to keep it under 4000 rpm for 3 years.."
mine used to do this - immobiliser wire connection to the starter motor or something. Give it a wiggle then try again........thats if it wont start....
it depends how good the garage is at fixing the problem. I had a few gearboxes on mine, but found out they werent installing it correctly! some seal or something. Its fine now! 4th time round!!!!
Are you sure she doesnt want to buy a Y-reg mk.1 with 39k miles? ;)
i think this issue of squashed air feed pipe to the airbox is common. Whenever the techno wizzes at Renault do a service or anything to my car involving removal of the airbox, they always put the air pipes back on the wrong holes resulting it squashed-tight pipes and bngger-all air getting to...
Im wanting to sell my car soon, how should i ask for the money? cash? cheque?-> bit worried about a cheque as i dont want to hand over my keys to a stranger and the cheque to bounce! and cash would be a large fist full of £50s or 10.....hmmm......
Im a car-selling virgin, so go easy...
"...more rumbles than a 33 Hz shunt..."
I could get a PECO 5 mid pipe and shoe-orn the maxi-bore evo stealth from the scirocco.
Stevie - where can i get a cheap non-maxibore exhaust from?
cheers dude
I dont want to get a PECO Big bore 10. I dont suppose youd know a cheap place to get a replacement (not renault £500 exhaust).... Just a system i think it needs. Also, where is the lamda sensor on the exhaust?cheers, si
As strange as it may seem my car being on part throttle (a shock to its system?), recently when decelerating it splutters and jerks almost as if theres crap in the fuel lines or something. A bit like a cold carb engine, but does it all the time now. The revs also take AGES to fall once revved...
