    Lithium Ion Battery

Really nervous about all the lithium batteries in our cars now, did you get in contact with Super B after the fire @punk_rallye ?? If so what was their response? Are lithium car battery fires common? I couldn't find any articles on google referring to race car battery fires.

    Lithium Ion Battery

In your position, I probably wouldn't upgrade the battery unless you are going to go with lithium. If you are going to use lithium, mount it in the boot and have a fire extinguisher in your car. Personally I wouldn't want to drive without an extinguisher, just seems logical to carry one anyway.

    Lithium Ion Battery

The OUMF race team I am in is sponsored by Super B batteries, so I have reasonable experience with them. Li batteries are amazingly light, the first time you pick one up you won't believe it. Super B say the lifetime of their batteries is at least 5 years, but we've only had them a year. We have...

    Boot Lock malfunction

Solenoid is about £30 on ebay. I have one I bought for a previous car but never fitted if you want it? I'd be after £25 plus postage.

    16th-17th Jan - Autosport international 2016 - Birmingham NEC

Might drop by to get a look at what you've done to prep your 172 if you don't mind? Also doing a few autosolos in mine, but not at championship level aha

    16th-17th Jan - Autosport international 2016 - Birmingham NEC

I'm there on Thursday and Friday, with other members of a car club I'm part of. Not bothering with Saturday and Sunday though, the caps on backwards brigade usually make too strong an appearance aha!

    Cruising Speed / Revs

I got pulled by one doing 70 in a 70 zone who opened with "turn your car off and tell me how fast you were going" and I was really confused, because I genuinely had been doing 70. So I said 70, he said "of course you were, step out of the vehicle" and then breathalysed me, and I blew 0, he...

    Cruising Speed / Revs

Yeah often enough the camera tickets never come through, its being caught by a policeman themselves that's the one you want to avoid. It seems they can basically make up the fine and do whatever they want with your license. In fairness, the guy that got the 750 euro fine was doing 90 in a 30...

    Cruising Speed / Revs

I got asked to pay 200 euros and they didnt touch my license. I paid cash at the side of the motorway. I was doing about 110. Apparently they can take your license and post it back to you, and ban you fron driving on the spot for 3 days as well. From what I was reading on the internet, it seems...

    Cruising Speed / Revs

Unfortunately, you may be disappointed XD, in France, they do "on the spot" fines. This is where they pull you over, give you a ticket, and expect you to pay in cash on the spot. If you don't have the cash on you, they will escort you to the nearest bank to get the cash out. I go there quite a...

Blown fuse now car won't start

I bought mine from ebay, but you can also get them from demon tweeks etc if you fancy paying 4 times as much XD... you can also buy resettable fuses from demon tweeks, but I think they are too long to fit in the fuse box with the cover on. At any rate they are very expensive.

Lovely, the liquid yellow is so effective! Well done, I love it.

    Cup racer steering wheel buttons

Yeah I had considered making something like that, was just trying to find the place that makes the buttons as above where they are boxed in a bit more. Cheers!

    battery dies

It would sound to me like an alternator problem. Most of my experience with alternators is on classics though, so I'm not sure about how the system works on the 1.2. Does the car have any changes to the electronics at all, such as subwoofers, amplifiers, or aftermarket head units? Sometimes the...

    Airbag & serv light

If you take the airbag ECU out entirely the lights will probably stay on because the system detects there is a "fault" with the airbag ECU. The only thing I can think of is that the resistors were not of the correct resistance. Maybe the same as the black tape method, but you could remove the...

Blown fuse now car won't start

Sorry not to have replied sooner, I did try and understand the wiring diagram and immobiliser for the clio a while back and it seems if the central locking is down, the immobiliser will stop the car from running iirc. I guess you probably already found this out by putting a new fuse in. You...

    Destructive Misfire Code 278???

Not had this issue per se, but as no one's replied I'll tell you what I know from having read it in other threads. The Clio's seem to be relatively susceptible to developing misfires, and most people seem to fix the problem by replacing the coil and or leads and or plugs. I assume you are...

    Cup racer steering wheel buttons

Hi, most race cars seem to have plenty of buttons around the steering wheel for controlling various functions, and I want the same on my rally car, but can't find them anywhere. In case my description was completely off, the cup racer here has the exact product I want: If anyone knows where I...

    Lift off oversteer

I've always found it's how violently you lift off that causes the oversteer. I use mine as a rally car, and it is dead handy to be able to get a touch of oversteer when you want it. Just give it a bit of boot and then snap the throttle shut. If you want to reduce the lift off oversteer, try...

    Steering wheel decisions

Renault parts wolverhampton has the sabelt for 144 atm, if you are interested, although you'll need to think of somewhere to put your horn button, as there's no hole in the centre.

    Brake pedal travel

Damn yeah, I had a similar problem on my front wheel, although I know I torqued the hub nut correctly when I put it on. I replaced the bearing anyway because mine's a rally car and I can't risk it. Its really odd that the clio hub nuts are castellated but have no split pin. Come to think of it...

    Brake pedal travel

Yeah, sounds like air in the system. It can happen after you rewind the piston, don't ask me how, but I have seen it. You can also bleed the brakes on your own if necessary, ChrisFix on YouTube explains how if you don't know, and it also reduces wear on the bleed screws and callipers. It's not...

    Connects2 CTARNBT003

Haven't used that unit in particular. Their stuff is about average imo, but considering you can get an aftermarket stereo with bluetooth, aux in, and usb for less than that, I wouldn't bother.

    Just got my first car!

Hi and welcome, I started 2 years back in a 1.0 litre corsa. All I did is put a new head unit in because the stock one was broken and keep it maintained. Keeping a car well maintained is one of the most valuable skills you can have, if you can service a 1.2, you can service most things. It will...

    New 172 cup owner Dundee

Aha yeah, they feel pretty quick too, especially on a rally! How does it compare to the Accord Type R? I have a friend who is after one of those.

    New 172 cup owner Dundee

Good to see fellow cup owners around! Straight through exhaust must be deafening? Mine is bad as it is, and that's still with 2 silencers... Welcome to the host of "is this part the same as on a normal 172" based searching you will have to do when it breaks...

Where can I get a new driveshaft?

Hi, sorry to pester again, but (after some extensive searching, rest assured XD) does anyone know if the CV joint is the same on the 172 and the 172 cup? If so, I will just replace the CV joint.
