yeah, unscrew the only screw that holds them on, pull the strip away from the door (at the screw end) to release it, then pull towards the rear of the car, job done.
when i ran without them the ride was bad, steering feel was crap, car felt like it was breaking up at anything over 50mph...
In the end I was given spigot rings that were still a little off, they helped, but you could still feel it slightly, ended up shearing 3 wheel bolts on one wheel...
the section of pipe that comes out the rear silencer goes over the trailing arm, when you lower the car they get closer together and often knock, thats probably what youre hearing.
dampers probably wont last very long imo. My wheels are et38 and are 7" wide if i remember correctly, brings them 3mm closer into the arch than yours. 3mm is nothing though, its not that tight under the arches anyway.
mine is lowered 60mm on 17s, its nothing unusual.

i agree with the man who said about a boy racer prefering noise to power...

pfft, pussies ;)
seriously though, steering doesnt get much heavier, and its worth it - but as fred said its down to driving style and preference. Do you like to park your car, or drive your car? :)
if you go to renault itll be as good a match as somewhere mixing it, if not better. At the end of the day, its just a colour code they use to mix it normally. Some more better paint places will be able to match it to a panel using a spectrometer (think thats the right name, otherwise its...
ive dropped my tyres considerably, to around what fred suggested a while ago (although ive now forgot), and on the 17s i dont notice any increase in wear, but the difference in grip over standard tyre pressures is easily noticeable.
