£24ish for the shock from gsfcarparts.com
it'll take you about an hour to fit it if you were to do it yourself, thats taking into account the possibility you've never changed one before. You'll need spring clamps though.
£60 sounds reasonable fitted though.
go to your local VOSA station and make a complaint against the kwik-fit dealer.
I'd personally take it back for the 'retest' and point out that it was never supposed to have one.
A few things I dont get though, cars with ABS dont have the valve - im surprised they checked for ABS. How...
I remember my mates fiesta front end, when he debadged that - he simply bonded a coin onto the back and filled the hole with cataloy - everyone else on fiestaturbo seemed to be using coins too, lol.
Personally I dont mind the clio badge! Its the renault badge that annoys me on my car - I...
I did my own on an 8v no problem (cambelt snapped, bent all valves, so had to replace all gaskets, head, etc), took an afternoon working outside my house.
renault gearbox's are bad enough without being rushed by a shorter throw. They look better, probably feel more positive, but in terms of improving the speed of the gear change, forget about it.
renault badge doesnt. Keeping in mind if its got a renault badge, then its a RenaultSport - which are just stuck on, as they use the same tailgate as the dynamique's etc which dont have Renault badges.
to comment, you'd need to understand what both of them do, and you dont seem to.
The ARB works almost like a spring, to reduce body roll.
Strut braces reduce body flex, not roll, thus firming up the chassis (meaning suspension geometries arent affected so much under cornering, etc).
two...
cant remember the offset for the 182, i think its around 45 though, but i'm probably wrong.
Basically, to cut a long story short) the larger the number (et45 is a 45mm offset), the further in the arch the wheel will sit. The lower the number, the more the wheels will stick out.
Wrong...
get the right offset wheels and you wont need spacers to fit the wheels.
You could probably drop it almost to the floor on 16's without archwork!
100mm on 17's works fine. If you're going REALLY low, then its just the front arches you've got to worry about cracking.
they cant stop you driving it - they have no power over you or the car. Worn shocks will affect braking distance, handling, and ride quality.
Drive it home, order a new shock absorber, and if you're even remotely handy, replace it yourself, its literally just a nut at the top, and a bolt at...
it is a common fault on the 182's, why renault arent using different units when they replace them, i really dont know. Seen people go through more than two sets of rear shocks on the 182. Seen others just dump the standard suspension in favour of coilovers, as the 182 shocks really dont last...
you'd hear if it was the CV joints
it does sound wheel related, pretty much anything else would make some sort of noise. Its unlikely to be tyre related if it literally just passed its mot.
Was any work done at all for the MOT? Get both front wheels balanced, see if that helps.
lol sorry mate, obviously not the case this time, but i just think its funny when people think they're buying a purpose built product, when really they're not!
