Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
yep, mines not perfect, but it's still an improvement. i still get 2 limiters based on temperature, they're just a bit low. I'm not sure if its my tacho though so i'm going to try another one over the weekend that i know hasn't been fiddled with :)
in theory if the CPS wasnt getting a signal at high rpm, it would cause the fuel and spark to be cut, so its a possibility
try moving it closer to the flywheel if possible?
oil temp sensor isnt connected to the ecu is it?
I've got the mk1 oil sensor on mine and it limits higher
on mine, it limits lower depending on coolant temp (like its meant to) - f0xys will limit at 6k regardless. rstuner says his coolant is running at 80-90deg... so spot on
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
large graph of f0xys latest speedo run. (had to make it this large to maintain detail)
I have no idea what i'm looking for, but if anyone wants a specific part of the graph done with added data (fuel trim, throttle position etc..) just say :D
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
yeh doesn't look right, only peaks at 80-something % too, though that doesnt account for the waaaaaaatatatata limiter
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
my apologies, you're correct
here's a zoomed in section of his 0-100mph run with the speed data (+smoothed)
so, speedo sensor is working properly! :p
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
just knocked up a quick graph of that data
one problem i can see is that at about 500s, he does a run from slow to about 100clicks with a few gear changes on the way.
the revs rise and fall as you'd expect when you change gear and accelerate, however...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
looks like the mk1 sensor is compatible
you cant use the mk2 as the mk1 speedo is mechanically driven, so needs a cable.
the mk1 cable just happens to have the signal generator built in :D
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
:S wierd
did some further testing on mine today, it seems to cold limit at 6k and warm limit at 6.6k...
something is up :/
from the few pics ive seen of r5 clocks, the speedos look the same (or atleast interchangable) to the mk1 clios
worst case you just swap them over and run a clio cable!
on the speedo cable there should be a plug with 3 wires (yellow, white black), the middle one is a signal wire and needs to be connected to pin 53 of the 172 ecu
mk1 coolant temp sensor into mk2 thermostat housing
drill through the housing and slot the sensor in. then secure it from behind with a suitable thin nut. also worthwhile using some sealing washers and silicone to stop it leaking :) - mines been fine up till now. careful with your placement...
