    CS Tech wizards - Help.

I’ve spent so much time trying to debug that exact problem recently. Just seemed to start happening out of the blue on Windows 10. In the end I gave up and got one of these: TP-LINK TL-WN822N 300 Mbps High Gain Wireless N USB Adapter, Version 4 - White...

    Laptop Wont Boot up

Sorry, was really busy yesterday so didn’t get a chance to reply. Try going to the command prompt option and then type this: Chkdsk /f c: That will scan the disk and try to fix errors. Will probably take a while. May not work as it sounds like the system may have already been trying to do it...

    Laptop Wont Boot up

Bugger.... that looks like the hard drive is failing or has become corrupted :( Have any changes been made to it recently? If you have the windows install disks and can boot from them or it’s able to boot into the repair mode (often hitting f11 while it’s starting up will get you there) then...

    Smart watches.. talk to me?

Just resurrecting this thread - I just bought a Ticwatch E for £115 from Amazon. Runs Wear OS 2, dirt cheap, fitness tracking works really well, screen is decent, battery life is gash but lasts a day at least. For the money, I'm amazed. Check out the reviews.

    Smart WiFi Double Plug Socket

They do ones that don’t have the USB ports, but yeah if you want the integrated USB charging too then maybe somewhere like RS or Farnell would stock them? https://www.screwfix.com/c/electrical-lighting/smart-switches-sockets/cat9340001#category=cat9340001&page_size=20&page_start=40

    Smart WiFi Double Plug Socket

Probably not, but it’s certainly pretty likely that the safety and compliance certification marks will be fake. Personally I’d be very antsy about having kit like that hooked up 24/7 and hidden behind the socket. I’d pay a bit more and get the equivalent from screwfix or similar, at least then...

Treating Rust On a Car You Don't Care About....

I used a similar product about 20 years ago on a rusty old Cavalier. It does work to a degree, it chemically changes the rust - however if it's under the paint and spreading there then you won't stop it. For the money..... eh..... why not.

    Smart watches.. talk to me?

Forerunner is very targeted at... well... runners ;) If you want a more generalised fitness/smart watch the Vivoactive 3 Music is supposed to be very good, currently £240 on Amazon. My Vivosmart HR is over two years old now and giving up the ghost (it’s had a hard life, so I’m pretty impressed...

    iPad 2018

The current iPad is very much the entry level model, it’s quick but where they saved the money is the display. Partially that’s for the education market - the screen is much cheaper to replace when it inevitably gets cracked. I went for a refurb 10.5” pro. Apple refurbs are a good way to save a...

    Clio 220 Trophy R3T spec

I'll second that, I never really thought much of the mk4 design, it's decent but not wow, those wheels totally transform it.

    Pc gurus help please!!

If it's reasonably new and came installed with Windows by the manufacturer then if it doesn't have the key with the machine it should just install and pick up the key automatically, the days of licence keys stuck to things are fading fast. If it's a hookey copy of Win10 or you bought it second...

    Pc gurus help please!!

Just let it do the updates mate, it can take a long time. Have you done the malware scan? How full is the disk? When updates fail to install you should get an error code you can google to tell you why. Edit: also, what GiT said. If you click on the arrow to the left of the “service host” bit...

Trying to ping a device, help appreciated

Have you thought about standing up an EC2 instance and using that as the ping target/sender? Amazon have a free tier which will let you stand up something suitable, and also your tutors will probably wet themselves with delight "because cloud" ;) https://aws.amazon.com/free/ Just make sure...

    Fcuking Apple !!!!!

@Geddes Have a look in the battery stats (Settings -> Battery) and see what the phone says is using power, might be an app update has gone bad and is flaying the battery. Also check the battery health (same place) and see if the maximum capacity has dropped off - might be a failing battery.

What premium tyres with comfort in mind?

Continental premium contact 6 is worth a look - is supposed to blend the ride comfort and refinement of the premium contact 5 with the “sporty” driving characteristics (sharp turn in, grip, etc) of the sport contact 5. Reviews suggest that it does.

    Broadband.

They've increased capacity at the exchange and/or cabinet, as fibre becomes more and more common they're putting in more kit and upgrading more cabinets. The technology from the exchange to the cabinet is very different to the old ADSL stuff. From the speeds you're saying I'd think you have...
