i dont know where this myth about CTR build quality comes from but they are UK made cars (Swindon) and come with the same questionable build quality as many different honda models made there in the past. i know plenty of people whove had problems both small and large with CTRs myself included...
had a Civic type - R for 2 years, brother has a new shape one that ive borrowed for a couple of weeks, i have a 182, go figure. about as fast in everyday stuff but much, much better handling and steering feel, bit low rent inside but then again so is the civic (i.e. the fake chrome plastic ring...
managed to get 1423 miles on the clock in the first week in the 182 (now stands at around 2100 after 11 days) wife has had the lexus GS which is actually a company car, for the last week or so, ive been taking the 182 on business as my company pays on mileage whatever. cruise control is a god...
the noise is always there but doesnt sound that amazing, lets face it coming from a scoob its gonna be quite hard to match the flat four burble you are used to. to be honest ive never understood the sound issue with 4 cylinder engines (except the scoob of course) if you want nice noise get a...
bit of tip on cleaning flies from the front of your car from my ctr days, it requires a local motorway or empty road though
wait until it rains then take your car out and drive it as fast as you can into the rain (law permitting) better than any high pressure jet, it usually helps to get...
aah yes, thats private parking attendants b******s the lot of em, i thought the original post was about civil parking offences. moral of that story is dont park anywhere near private land... law unto themselves
i recently did some consultancy work for central parking office and a few local ones, most local authorities are decriminalizing parking as its too much of a burden on the police (apparently) so they are rolling this out to most authorities. i can categorically say that parking attendants ARE...
182 for 10 days ... 897 miles on the clock (taken on business trip in pouring rain :( ) and i now have rattles
totally expected but oddly its not a seat or transmission but the plastic screen on the dials, press down on the binnacle and it disappears :D at anything above 40 i also have a...
ive had it every time ive locked tthe "beast" as it has now been christened but havin checked it, it is totally armed every time. if yours isnt get in touch wiv renolt..sorry but i am pissed now
i think its worth pointing out that synth oil should NOT be used until at least 6000 miles, due to the mechanical and physical changes your engine goes through until it is bedded in. my consensus is carefully thrash it at first (1st 25 miles) then have an oil change (still mineral) to clean it...
i think its a good point with citroen, i had a VTS when hot hatches were in the wilderness and no matter what i did to it it just took it, much respect, and i had both versions as well
i did mine as per my professor of enginering at oxf university, i suppose i have less to lose in some way. my 182 arrived with 3 miles on the clock perfect. sat there for 5 mins engine running to warm the oil up then steadily did another 5 miles then onto the m1-a1 link. full throttle in all...
how much you pay? mine was 12,200 with cup suspension, and spoiler pack uk sourced as well.. had to wait 8 weeks but with £6,500 deposit and PCP is costing £113 a month, 2,400 balloon payment ... like i care, it will be tracked with covers on plates if they notice fair enough, bargain if you ask...
yeh, my company car is a gs 300 lexus and i fling the doors open with hands free and laptop willy nilly .. its easy, i dont really own it although it is a fine car in sport guise and a lesson in refinement to the BMWs i hate with a passion, utterly overrated and being an unlucky 325i owner for 2...
CTR only measures water temperature as (if im correct) does the 182 and the laws of physics dictate that true full temperature will take approximately the same time. it was always one of my gripes with the CTR .. NO OIL temp gauge which is what we all really want.
Apart from that more of an...
noticed today that the hinges on the doors of my 182 dont look too hot, have a habit of letting door fly open which inevitably stresses the hinge. just wondered if any 172 or cup owners have had any problems with the hinges over longer term ??
ive only had my 182 for 3 days and one touch is doing my head in. its a major project to drop my window just enough to have a cigarette hold it down just long enough so it doesnt activate "one touch" and not too long so it ends up half open and me with ash all over my shirt ...
how is it...
yeh, having lived with one so long (CTR) its still difficult to explain why it was so frustrating, i loved it to bits but i found myself wanting to end journeys because of "stress" i suppose. i resented the bad reviews the civic got when i first owned one but have to admit they were largely...
Finally took delivery of my black gold 182 today and have spent most of the day putting it through its paces. its the first personally (non-company) car ive owned since i sold my CTR which i owned for 2 years and 40,000 miles.. my brother also has a facelift CTR which ive been "looking after"...
there are loads of other options open to you to be honest i had exactly the same problem with honda and their ridiculous finance so i spoke to my bank manager of all people and he asked me if id ever considered PCP (not angel dust) as an option. which effectively you own a car from new and pay...
Wednesday morning fantastic !! especially as they "lost" the car for two days, now i just have to squeeze three days "on site" for work in the big smoke, two job interviews and a marathon trip to the dentist into next week as well as my car being delivered on wednesday morning.
apart from "who cares" IMHO .... evo and autoexpress are from the same publisher and share the same website ... go figure. it amazes me that these discussions go on so long just as these arguments spread across from here to mini2 honda revs etc there are bound to be differing opinions in...

although it didnt have auto wipers, if the fronts wipers were on at all my CTR used to do the same thing. im with iceblue182 it caused the same problem in the CTR is the rear wiper was dirty
i cant speak for renault just what ive read, my civic had a recommended 1000 mile oil change (kept at 10w/40) and a recommended change at 6000 to synth NB these were both recommended by the dealer not Honda themselves. Running in creates lots of dirt in the oil, regardless of what is recommended...
