yeah, youre right. The alarm is a good piece of kit, though. Its the same as rockports, i.e., AI606.
Cost £320 for fitting, and they gave me £275 back for the door ! The main siren (too big for engine compartment) is now in the passenger compartment, under the glove box, and TOAD fitted me a...
They fitted mine last year. Id had the 172 for 1 day, and the fitter opened the drivers door into the wall and chipped it !!
It took them 3 days to fit it, and there wasnt enough room in the engine compartment for the standard siren. They left wire cuttings everywhere, and I had smoke...
the woman may need a witness........
If the bus driver says she drove into him for example, as they will often try it on, so as not to get a bad mark on their driving record.
His word against hers means that she will lose no claims discount on a knock for knock.
Funny one this -
When I cane the clio, almost immediately afterwards, I can smell something like concentrated windscreen washer fluid in the cabin.
Its not eggy cat smell, but smells like Ive just squirted the screen with super-concentrated wash.
Anybody any clue ?
My missus phoned me up to say that the brake lights were on all the time on the way back from work. (She uses the 172 during the week - I get to play at weekends).
I gave it my usual patronising bit.
"Have you got the rear fogs on ?"
"Is your handbag resting on the pedal ?"
But no ...

You accellerate hard in the wet, grip is an issue, the tyre may slip which causes the suspension components to go from a load bearing position to a non-load bearing position, i.e, rapid movement of components...

Hype,
Put a little note in your side window - To whom it may concern - saying you have taken photographs of them, and that if you see the little sods anywhere near the car again, you will give the evidence to the police.
Just a thought...........
The adjuster are part of the headlight and are not swappable. I guarantee that the cables (one per headlight) between the in-car adjuster and the headlights, is crapped up and jammed in the cable itself. See my post above for easy solution
I could only ever manage 300 -310 out of my valver.
You could probably get much more range out of it, if you stick to the speed limits and never accellerate hard !! ;)

Noisy power steering on valvers - totally common and expected. Search for previous posts.
Quick cure - park up on gravel and go lock to lock for about 10 times. this self bleeds air from the system, but ultimately it will return.
Replace pump.
The cable adjusters on older valvers can jam up, and are awkward to replace. If you disconnect the cable from behind the headlight, you will see the lever it connects to which adjusts the whole angle of the headlight inner shell. Move the lever to the required position, and tie it in position...
Also, if youre going to replace the thermal fuse in the centre of the matrix, Id advise slightly bending the spring resistors away from it, as Bob suggests, these get hotter with age
clio_racer,
it is the bit with 2 wires coming out of it, (one red one black), there are 2 plastic clips holding it onto the blower (once youve removed the screws and the plug)
That is, the removable bit is the blower matrix and 2 wires coming out of it

If your blower will only operate on certain speeds, its highly likely that your blower matrix
has gone. This is a matrix of resistors that decide how fast the blower motor runs. The
matrix is protected by a themal fuse, which blows if the resistors get too hot (which they occassionally
