I replaced mine with a pattern radiator similar to the one in your link for a 172. Didnt use the blanking plug and the fitting at the top is wrong ie the OEM rad had a cutaway for the rubber mounts to locate the radiator. I located the top mounts with Gripfil.
I looked at mine today as I...
Pattern radiator which has blanking plug. Last week leaked the water away and now when I found the fault I discovered that it is hand tight.
Plan to use Hylomar universal Blue or Hylotyte Red on threads and rubber washer. Run to temp and then retorque.
Is that a good idea?
Tech sheets...
Since I coughed up over a £100 for a genuine window mechanism some 4 years ago it failed. Having had a review of forums I decided to repair it and I also now understand what made it fail in the first place.
The mechanism has a motor, gearbox, spool for the wires, tensioners, two cables a metal...
it can be removed search the forums>
Try to reset using red button under the bonnet, then try to disconnect the battery for 30 mins, then from inside car lock and hold the interior locking mechanism for over 10 ses until it inlocks itself.
Along the way these things fixed my car......
I have had bits of wheel arch trim drop, one pece is currently held up by tie wraps. New ones are £75 for the bigger pieces. In general they are held together with nylon fixings that lock into metal brackets on the car structure.
As they are plastic they can put a groove in the tyre. Run...
Dirty TDC sensor - you can clean it - AA did mine.
In the boot is a tow hook it fits in the front behind a movable panel, get a mate with a car and a rope t hook it up take your car for a drive and then call out the AA.
They can do it at the roadside
when I was caught out in the 1.2 Clio the AA guy who towed me home said he thought the fault was a dislodged brake shoe and that he had towed a Peugeot with a similar problem. He indicated the small drum used on the French cars sufferred more than other makes.
French cars rar brake drums do loose the shoe liners, they get trapped between the other shoe and the drum and lock the wheel - needed an AA tow home in a 1.2 Clio a while back - easy to fix, but a bit of a game removing the drum.
fixed! Glued some bits measured bits, moved bits. filed bits. Realised my replacement Renault part cost at over £100 WAS SOLD TO ME NON CONFORMING TO THE DRAWING! Brought it two years ago, window wind'ed slow but OK but I know why it failed....
Love the car hate Renault!
but now it all...
have you reset system (hold internal locking mechanism locked for 10 secs and then use the key fob to reset itself with system bu opening closing) OR /AND disconnect the battery for 30 mins.
Renault system is unique mine went AWOL and then came back - could never figure why.
Renaults system is a law unto itself - my car wouldnt opem on the key (but both locks OK) Car would not start (red light flashing on dash) Reset the system using the internal lock, and the key would work in lock - but it wold not open the central locking.
Then I left the car overnight and now...
Car is still OK, opens on the key fob, starts first time (including -6C), RAID trips in drives fine. Weird? Something must have reset.
Many thanks for advice guys.
On the window front all the bits seem OK - no wire ends missing pawls OK but not connected to bar - so a bit of araldite (or...
My aux belt caused the cambelt to jump a tooth - took out all the valves and made a bitg metallic noise on the starter (and a small backfire in exhaust)
If the car turns over without noise I would doubt engine damage or broken cambelt.
Have you changed the oil (type viscosity) recently? I got sold the wrong oil by a Renault Dealer when I did the cambelt and it was thinner than recomended and I was told to stop and flush immediately.
(Have a case registered with Renault in case it goes bang)
recomend anyone? Usually use City Motor but the car is now hardly worh the cost of a service - I think City Motors now charge a £50 have a look fee for all old cars. At the moment my nearside window mechanism has failed and the door trip is dumped in the back. Other option is to get the AA to...
Run your hands over the tyre walls looking for bulges - had a tyre fail in the wall and it caused all sorts of vib issues, wheel weights shoudn't cause a violent vibration, loose wheel nuts will, or excessive suspension wear, or tyre moved on rim (hit a curb can cause all sorts of issues)
You...
Should have rolled int the BMW and let him sort it....
A few years back something hit my front wheel when I was parked in my street, got towed to Renault and a track rod was bent 35 degrees and the car would not drive. In the end put in a new steering rack jut in case the geers were chipped...
Raid new to me too - RAID (Renault Anti-Intruder Device) stops you getting a visitor at the lights and dont know how I turned it on but you turn it off by holding the lock button to unlock for 5 seconds.
Anyways latest news is pretty weird - acidently left the car open all last night. Came...
worked for me - except I got a bit carried away with the cutting and now I get a squirt of water out the back when I activate the front washer not complaining mind cheaper than a Renault replacement.
thanks - old key in ignition car turns over immobiliher light flashes, spare key light goes solid then out car turns over and starts, as I move off car locks (not happened before). So my good key talks to the decoder although at the start of this post it didnt and I had to re-arm the key...
any metal wire or a coat hanger - dont use coated or painted wire that might catch fire.
Thats how I hold my rear box on until I get to weld up the rear box bracket
Last week I was in France gong through scanners with the keys in my pocket - has anyone lost a key due to airport security (took a lot of flights to get around the country)
yes new battery and voltage is over 3V tried it and it made no difference - car goes OK now but I did not mention that after about a mnute as your moving along the car doors lock, switching the lock to open doesnt stop the motor and also the car doesnt then relock.
Since I reset the system using the interior locking switch the good key works fine - I assume the decoder ring senses the key in the ignition. That works OK.
Probem now is that when you point the key at the car the central locking does not work but the light on the key fob comes on and the...
UPDATE : Used the old key this morning nothing (this is a key that Renault said would not work I was trying to reconnect it to the car) Next I used my spare key which was working last week - put the OK key in and it works OK - this makes me think that there is some kind of trigger on the...
SOLUTION UPDATE - Immobiliser, key fob and central locking - HELP PLEASE
Turn key in door - door opens but no central locking clicks or noises. No other doors affected. Put key in ignition, immobiliser light flashing fast. Engine turns over but engine does not start.
Key in ignition turn...
