The 172 can make use of 98 ron petrol as this runs a higher compression ratio and can automatically detect what fuel you are using via the knock sensor.

Back to the original question... Its possible because of this... Cams are tunned for different RPM and torque. It is possible that at the 4000rpm mark the cam is at the most effecient and thats why you get a sudden change in note. I get this on my bike.. at 10,000 rpm the engine changes note...

The oil guage is cr4p anyway but it looks good, for example mine runs on 3 bar when I am flat out and Night.Icons runs at just under 6 bar but both cars are healthy.. Go figure !

You can put the audi TT 225 chip in the 180bhp and vola a 225bhp skoda. I actaully like the look of them and was considering one before the 172 mk2 I bought but they were pricey when they first came out.

Ben the only time I have had this happen is when I have over tightened a spark plug in the head and it stripped some of the thread out. Like I said last night it will be cheaper just to swap the heads but lets hope your one on there now hasnt been gas flowed, if so then get it hellicoiled. Ivan
