Oil - You get what you pay for!

Saying it's not under warranty, go for an ester based 5w-40 like the Fuchs Pro S, Millers CFS, Redline, Gulf Competition or Motul 300V. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx Don't put them in under warranty, Renault have been getting tight on warranty claims and people have reported that...

Sorry, should have clicked the link. Yes, the Supersyn is fine, or the Fuchs GT1 is a slightly better option for a similar price.

Oil - You get what you pay for!

Yes, that is a temporary offer, it's usually about £40-45 for 5L. The Gulf is a proper top end oil, we've had sponsored cars using it for 24 hour racing and lots of others using it for road and track use in modified and standard cars and we've had no problems with it. Cheers Tim

Oil - You get what you pay for!

Hi Different oils can make an engine run quieter for a couple of reasons. First of all is the basestock, group III and group V oils are good at helping cars run quieter, but group IV aren't so good at absorbing sound...

Oil - You get what you pay for!

It's a group III (hydrocracked oil), although I think there is a small amount of PAO synthetic as well. You shouldn't notice any real difference between that another group 3 or group 4 oil, but you might find the engine is a bit louder compared to a group 5 oil like the Pro S. Cheers Tim

    Oil

I would use a 5w-40 synthetic and you will find those through the link below. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Fuchs Supersyn...

    The truth about transmission oil?

Plenty of people are using the Fuchs Sintofluid (75w-80, GL5) in Clio, Megane, Peugeot and Citroen gearboxes without any issues at all. Technically, a GL5 oil should be backwards compatible with a GL4 application, but people often have concerns due to brass synchros. Quality GL5 oils are made...

    The truth about transmission oil?

I don't have that one listed as the only specified oil for it, it may be what Renault dealerships have though. My info just says it needs to be a 75w-80 GL5. Cheers Tim

Oil - You get what you pay for!

The truth is, from what we've heard it's not very popular (except in RenaultSport Clios) and we've got other oils we consider better, plus limited space in the warehouse. There's no other oils we want from Elf and we wouldn't take on a brand just to sell one of their oils

    Coolant & Antifreeze Explained

Coolant and antifreeze is a topic we are asked about on a regular basis, and often causes confusion; types, colours, service life etc. Perhaps the most frequent cause of confusion is what the difference between anti-freeze or coolant is. Basically, they’re the same product (although the term...

    Flooring it from cold!

We tried the cruize seen once, generally unless it is shiny, or glows and they can show it to their mates they are not interested.

    Flooring it from cold!

Thinner oil is definately a performance increase compared to a massive spoiler on a 1L car.

    Flooring it from cold!

When you start the car when it's cold, drive it gently until it's up to temp. The oil need to warm to flow properly, one of the reasons we often recommend an oil that's thin when cold. It's also better to drive it gently to warm it, rather than just leave it ticking over on the drive.

Oil & Cold Starts - Good Advice from Opie Oils

0w-20 can take fairly high temps, as they tend to have very little additives/polymors in them. The trouble be being able to maintain enough pressure, it is easier on a drysump system, if your oil pump can handle it then try it out. Cheers Guy

Oil & Cold Starts - Good Advice from Opie Oils

As the temps are only around 100C, use a good 5w-40. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx Cheers Tim

Oil & Cold Starts - Good Advice from Opie Oils

It's a bit thick for a Clio, go for a 75w-80 or 70w-80 like the Fuchs Sintofluid, Redline MTL or Amsoil MTF http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-670-75w-80-75w-85-mtfs.aspx Cheers Tim

Oil & Cold Starts - Good Advice from Opie Oils

Oil & Cold Starts - Good Advice from Opie Oils

Any idea what oil temps you are getting? Anything under 130C and I'd stick with a good 5w-40 or 10w-40 (I guess you are talking about a Clio track car). Same for the road car (again, if it's a Clio), but I'd go for a 5w-40 for road use to get better cold start protection than a 10w-40. Using a...
