Eviljohn - lol, thought of that, they are quite well inforced inside and outside with layers of fiberglass and p40 bodyfiller - but if someone manages to get there full wait on them (they are an idiot for not noticing where ther foot is!!!) they would...

for that budget you could do better than that, what kind of system, pure quality(sq) down and dirty bass (street bass) or a system that will score well on mics (spl) or inbetween (sql)?

^ just out of interest, are you running the internal amps or are you running any extra amps in your car? Have you run it on high volumes and felt the power cables?
I would advise against doing that, purley for the fact that the current draw is well over the current draw of a stock HU, and the...
^ seconded, peopl dont belive this until they hear it, i have rears feeding off my HU, when i turn them on, the sound stage gets pulled back and it sounds nasty - set your fornt up properly and youl do well!
50x4 will not give out 50x4 on most units, more like 15 rms each channel, but the alpine units that have 60x4 are far supirior, they draw too much power to be connected to the standar loom! they need a new power (from battery) and earth. It will give speakers more power, so speakers will play at...
your buying somehting thats primary design is for sound, for looks? sorry but to me that sounds strange! if its in you boot, its hidden unless your going for a showy install, if its in your parcel self it will attract theives, if in a stealth shelf, why go for looks? as its hidden!
it could be that the speaker wire is shorting somwhere, so the HU is going into a protection mode try new speaker cables, and as dangermouse said also different speakers, its unlikly that both would go at the same time, but possible (especially if it was just off and HU)
well if you post the stats of each of these items - power in RMS and power handeling in RMS ect
But IMO they are crap, and expensive crap at that. but its your car and your money
you should be able to get one like that, but not sure if you will get a variation of frequencies. It might be called something like a treble filter (takes out treble) anything will do really, so it plays only below 6-3khz closer to 3 id say
steer clear of 6*9s and steer clear of any speakers in the parcel shelf, dont touch either with a 10ft barge pole - serioulsy!!! ive posted about this before
have any speaker in the parcel shelf is not a good idea unles you build a sealed enclosure under them, make sure they are running...
well if you could spend around £100 - £150 on comps

well, you wont need the extra tweeters if you buy the comps - whats your budjet for your comps, infact what is it for the system as a whole?
Dont know they tweeters, pioneer as good at making low cost OK speakers, but dont seem to make any really good speakers, so im not sure - but would these...
^ ive heard a few of the sony subs, in the xpold range, the quality was god awfull IMO. i dont think the issue about the box being acitve is an issue, as you can just screw the amp onto the side of the box.
you could do a lot better job getting say an Resonant engineering (sp) re8 putting it...
the inifitys are quite good as far as coxails go IMO, well if they are the ones with the angled rotatable tweeter. But IMO comps would be better, but sh*tty cheap comps wont!!!
Why put comps in the parcel shelf? whay have rear speakers? have any speaker in the parcel shelf is not a good idea...
ok when looking at amps, only look at amps that give you rms quote (look at what voltages they are tested at, and into what impedance load), if they rave about there max power rating, 99 times out of 100 they are sh*t! Look for the signal to noise ratio. Also might help looking at current draw...
well, 6*9s will work better in boxes, as all speakers work better in an enclosure, so if you could put them in a small sealed enclosure. They wont give bass, they will give a mid bass and mid.
It would be best to have a low pass filter on them (cut out treble) or it will pull your sound stage...
with subs inverted, it can make a difference, as if you have any overlap of freqs then you can get bass cancelation issuses, even in the front, but not to such an extent as the sub will be slighlty out of phase with the fronts unless adjusted already.
a quote from thes the most publicised...
