the knocking could be the brackets on the steering rack, that was another suggestion from someone i read in another thread. Can you post a pic of the mount?

yeah it was. I actually bought the full kit. I got the top mount and nut, the bottom mount and baring. So all of number 8 in the pic below. I also got new strut to hub bolts and nuts. it came to a total of £106 and a few pence, so not the cheapest of things to do but that was for both sides

ive replaced my top mounts today and the car drives completely different, no more drifting for me. My other bushes are in good condition aswell.

the other day i was sat in traffic and for some random reason i pulled both widnow switches up and the hazard lights flashed. it does it everytime i pull both switches up when the windows are up. Any ideas what this means?

i have a similar problem. Im changing my top mounts on Wednesday when i get the parts from Renault. and also because the drivers side top mount rubber broke away

got two new top mounts with bearings for £40. Renault wanted £18.15+VAT. not that much more but better in my pocket lol Part Number - 770426450

cheers. how would you tell if the top bearing is fooked? is it just seeing if there is any play in them?

where did you get them from bearne? how much did you pay? part numbers?

i haven't. Still owe the mechanic for the work he has done already but not had the time or money to go back down. I was planning on buying an RS Tuner and remapping to see if this fixed it but the sale of me buying one from another member has just fallen through. Can you shed any light on it?

where they properly dry before he let you take them? Sometimes they can be dry to touch but the paint can still be soft. Would have expected them to be baked in the oven though but there are some cowboys out there

if your thinking its a taxi, try asking people on the street (probs the younger people) if any of them went out and got a taxi home. May be able to locate the firm and then hopefully the driver.
