Only problem is if the battey has went dead then it's not going to hold its charge - considering age of battery it sounds as if there may have been a constant live/ bad earth which has caused this, just take battery out then get it tested somewhere local, if it turns out to be dead though try...
+1, multimeter on cig lighter, then ignition on should go from 0 to 12v on turn of key, first bet is to check/replace fuse - elsewise its a re-wiring issue
Best bet is to grab a multimeter and establish the permanent and ignition feed from the loom, then adjust the red/yellow accordingly - or if u dont have access to multimeter just turn ignition on and unplug the red or yellow (or vice versa) and seeing what one turns radio off - then u know the...
After bumper removal and trial and error testing, turns out one of my ballasts has gone (some water in the connector when I removed it - gutted), so swiftly onto ebay and £50 later Ive just got to wait until mon/tue for 2nd hand one to arrive, so if all goes well ill be seeing clearly by...
best bet is to unplug connector from back of cig lighter, then use a voltmeter to test the current, should be 0 when off and 12 when ignition is on - 2min job to test it :)
Lol yeah thought it sounded a bit extreme, but I suppose if the whole unit is disconnected then there's no chance of damaging anything
... its kind of ironic as I have a p/t job in halfords and change loads of bulbs for customers on a daily basis, but my store doesn't touch d2s bulbs, and when...
Alrite guys,
Been scouring the forum using the search tool :p - but just looking to clarify my understanding of replacing xenon bulbs in a 182, I think the existing bulbs were the originals so these are 4300, and since my driverside has gone it seems the easiest way to change this is to remove...
double check the bonnet catch as this can also trigger a door being open, had mine beeping when trying the fib after tampering in engine bay, and open and close solved it straight away
only problem with the aux lead adaptor is that they are temperamental buggers, we supply armorautomotive ones in halfords but due to many not working with OEM HU's they're not regarded as a reliable solution, here's a connects2 one you could try...
Will be something to do with the yellow connector (stalk controls), as the display will remain blank if this is not connected correctly - as suggested try moving it down a slot :)
Thought this would have been the responses - and kinda knew myself that the right thing to do is get it fixed, ach well back to poverty-living time to get it booked in :p
Cheers
Finally saved up the £650 to get dephaser/cambelt/aux belts replaced on my 182 - total p.i.t.a as Ive only owned the car for around 2month and when I got it the timing belt was changed before I picked it up. After scouring the related threads regarding this fault, it appears that it was stated...
Alright guys (hopefully posted this in the right place)
Wondering if anyone has any pics of 182 alloys refurbed in different colours? - I understand trying to get a colour match for the factory anthracite is a nightmare, so was wondering what anyone else has done? I am presuming that the refurb...
... a guide would be usefull (holding off to the end of the month until I do this though) - I'm presuming the size of the MDF solely depends on the size of the amp and how high up the seat you want it to sit? Is there any specific thickness which you would reccommend for this?
Cheers
I work in halfords and know the connectors which you mention (as I have aquired a set myself), personally I am going to install the additional socket under the ashtray - therefore you can pull the power off the back of the existing cig lighter + its easily accessible :)
Mines is a decat 182, read up that the pipe will trigger light every so often so got a code reader off ebay (£20) and cleared it, not came on since. When it was on the car was running fine with no loss or power or mpg, just french-ness i guess :)
I'm from Edinburgh, so went to Rentech here to get dephaser checked out - sadly turns out it needs done (along with timing/aux belts) so got a month or 2 to save for this- but thats not the point :p
Seeminly these guys are some of the best you get above the border? - so I've read
Sent another email to a guy at warranties2000, who seems to be dealing with my email responses to the claim (his reply rate is quite good so here's hoping for a good response). I have read through my policy booklet, and in no part does anything mention 'wear or tear'. The following are...
Update:
Well turns out nothing is covered by the warranty so think my 5-6weeks of owning a clio sport are coming to an end, although rentech generously offered to discount the cost to £650, I don't think I can justify such a high expense considering I got the car for £3.8k and paying an...
Went to rentech in edinburgh (never realised they were in edinburgh), fault can now be confirmed as dephaser pulley, so dephaser, timing and aux all need replaced, grand total of £690,just had timing done when I got it in july, which was an additional 200 on top of my purchase price so a bit...
Nick,
I have attached another video, took the car for a drive as the noise only appears when warm, by the sounds of it the noise seems constant while reving, doesnt seem to speed up or slow down - just drowned out by engine noise, I held the revs at 00:21-00:30 which you can clearly hear it...
Thanks for replies, Im up in Edinburgh - any reccomendations of specialists nearby?
Ive had a look at other videos regarding dephasers, and these all sound much worse than mine and also seem to get louder when reving, but the noises coming from mine are only noticable on idle - and tbh seems...
Alright guys,
Had posted this before but no responses after bumping, so thought I'd repost. Just wasn't too sure if there was a fault with me engine or if its just running a bit rough?, sound really quiet on cold start, but after going for a drive it sounds like this...
Bump :p - any ideas from video if engine just sounds a bit rough or if there is a problem with it?, most videos on youtube about dephaser show a lot of knocking when reving but mines doesnt do this, just a bit tappety when ideling after running for a bit
Cheers
Steven
Re: 2x engine issues/queries - Now With Video attached
Alright guys,
Wee video of engine bay after I drove home today, as mentioned before it doesnt sound like this when the car gets a cold start and only becomes noticable after driving for a short while - sounds louder on phone than it...
Thanks for the replies, is there any guides about where the o2 sensors are located? Had a smilar problem with my mr2 before with these, but just let them be since there seemed to be no detrimental effect to mpg/oil consumption.as for the noise, my description of 'tapping' may not have been the...
