Drove the TDCI WITH the 107PS power upgrade and it was seriously lacking guts and had quite a lot of turbo lag. At least with the petrol you've got quick response and you can rev the whatsits off it, making it more fun. Even though it's less powerful you've got more revs to play with etc and it...
Just drove a limited edition M-Sport fiesta on Monday. It's based on the zetec S and I tell thee what, it was bloody good. Handled superbly on 205/40/17s and it was a lot more of a giggle than a new clio (unfortunately). Get a petrol zetec S is my reckoning.
Stunning! Tbh I'd probably put it back on standard springs, or at least adjust it to be higher off the deck, but that's just me. But yeah, it's awesome to see an LY one kept so nice. And I had no idea they were so rare either.
I would add my name to the list... if only an LY one would come up for sale near me. Saw one at a dealer in Truro (on autotrader) recently, dunno if whoever bought that is on here.
Re: 98 octane petrol!!!
Will someone close this can o' worms?!? You might have to run a couple of tanks of super through the engine to notice a difference, but there really is nothing you can gain from asking that question on here. Mine runs better on VPower, so that's what it gets. Other...
Ok ok, I can't believe everyone's missed my point so badly. It's a front-wheel-drive Renault, gifted with a superb chassis and suspension setup by the supremely capable Renaultsport engineers so that it holds the road better than any of its rivals. So what does Needell do? Forces the car into...
Get yourself a ballpark figure from the renault dealership first, then have a ring round breakers if you don't mind a used (but not as badly worn) one. Don't know anyone else who could supply a genuine wheel.
Saw that one a while back. Ridiculous price. They won't bloody sell it until they knock a full grand off it, unless somebody local to the garage desperately wants an inferno one and can't be arsed to look elsewhere.
Been out with an R27 today, there's bugger all in it where it matters (i.e. on the twisties), but imo it's easier to go quick in the 197 cos the chassis is better. Quite a lot better tbh, but that's what makes the 182 feel so lively compared to most other things - the fact that it's less stable...
Glad you chaps enjoyed it too. And I feel your pain Piers, my own tyre's gonna cost me a packet to replace after I found that bulge on the sidewall today. *Sigh,* never mind.

And then it went pear-shaped for Piers...
And after a fair amount of foam, careful driving and socket-borrowing he ended up thusly:
Stylish, yet functional.
Fantastic day, it was everyone's first meet and hopefully everyone had a great time. Superb route too, bar the potholes (damn them all!), and most of the roads were dry. The usual streams running across, but it wasn't too bad at all. All in all I had a great day, cheers to all who turned up...
The anthracite wheels were a definite improvement. Imho the standard 172 wheels look too much like dynamique ones. Don't suit the character of the car enough.
Re: NATIONAL CLIOSPORT MEET IDEAS?
Camping suits me, and a lot of others I'm sure. As long as it's a decent site with washing facilities etc it'll be orate!
