I drove that road on Friday afternoon, didn't get as sideways on the grid mind :boring:

Top one has saturation reduced and contrast altered, otherwise they as as shot apart from blanking the number plates out and converting a couple to black and white. I prefer to get the shot right on the camera rather than wasting my life playing with photoshop!

I went over on Tuesday, rally was Thursday - Saturday, back on Sunday. I'm not sure how much I saved on the ferry this time as I haven't paid for it yet!

Based on my own experience the Nikon fit version of the Sigma 70-200 doesn't compare to Nikon's own 70-200 lens in terms of sharpness and AF speed in tracking mode.

D80 is excellent and the 18-70 lens is very good too. Depends how serious you are about photography, a D40 or D60 might be better for you.

Yes if you can control the shutter speed or have a "bulb" setting. A tripod would help too.

Yes. Depends where you watch really. Some places they have marked out as prohibited areas but if you're prepared to find some of the less popular places you can go where you like... as long as you're safe obviously. I'm currently wondering if it's possible to be at the Manx rally on Friday...

Yep it's still bumpy short stages although Bala MC have done a fair bit of repair work. Normally 12 stages in the day. A couple of spots where there's sometimes big offs, blind crest along from the triangle (ran both ways) and the flying finish at the forest end, worth having a look at if you're...

Aye. It was quite satisfying going passed a parked up plod motorbike on the mountain road at 95 though, makes the low mpg worthwhile!
