The list we were given was far from any car, perhaps things have changed since you went through the process? We looked at Volvos as well but like you say they wanted £1000's up front.
From what I could see the ones with nothing to pay up front were all tiny cars. I guess that's ok if you've got no kids at home and no need to get half of B&Q in the boot every weekend. If anything that's the only fault with the scheme, there isn't as much choice as I thought there would be...
It's a very nice car to drive and use, I can't fault it at all. I've grown out of driving for thrills and would rather just have a comfortable ride in a practical, safe and reliable car. :) Personally I think it looks quite smart as well.
It's worth just under £20k but we've got it on the mobility scheme so over 3 years which is when we choose the next car it's actually only costing us about £6k.
Try this. On this forum go to UserCP -> Edit Options
Scroll to the bottom "Message Editor Interface" If the drop down box says "Enhanced Interface" change it to either standard or basic. You may need to restart Firefox I can't remember but try it again and see if it works.
If it's working it will check as you type and underline misspelt words in red. You can then right click on the word in question and it will give you a few alternatives.
You don't have to go into the menus, just right click in the text box and select Check Spelling. It should always remember...
You've got an Nvidia Geforce 7600GS but what's it branded as? e.g. PNY, XFX, Inno3D, MSI etc. Have you got a manual or something for it, it'll say on that. Sometimes it'll say on the card.
Tried BitDefender and had problems. I've even got a valid licence for it still I think.
I guess it can't hurt to try AVG again, I haven't used it for a while but wasn't keen the last time I tried.
I need a double licence though as we've got 2 PC's. Just found it for £34 for 1 year which isn't too bad.
Edit: £30 from a US reseller if the USD to GBP conversion was correct.
Me and the Mrs have 14 days left on our NOD32 trials. Looking at the best part of £40 for a 1 year licence, is there an equivalent free alternative or should I just fork out?
I'm not interested in AVG or Avast, they both seem too heavy. Just need AV, no firewall. NOD has been excellent, very...
I found Vista installed fairly quickly to be fair. Surely he can do a simple thing like install the programs he wants?
Processor wise he should be ok but he wants a minimum of 2GB memory.
There is an upgrade advisor to see if his hardware will be compatible but if he hasn't got a genuine copy...
Haven't a clue what they'd need or even if they'll help any more, can you still buy XP, I'm not sure?
You can get FULL (not an upgrade) Vista Home Premium OEM for around £70. Would be a lot cleaner than trying to upgrade if that's possible from that version. So yes you'd have to backup whatever...
Call MS and give then all the details and just see what they say. For a time I think they were offering free/discounted copies of XP if you found yours was pirated. Depending what he uses his pc for it might be worth considering a free OS (Linux).
My dad's got sat nav in his car and it's shite. he gets sent an updated map cd on a yearly basis and it doesn't even allow him to search via postcodes!
