Great progress with these, I must pull my finger out and get the beam off. I replaced the OS handbrake cable which i found had corroded while replacing the caliper seals.
The shell rust where the beam mounts looks a little bit worse than I had hoped for, that and the few bits of dodgy bodywork...
Hows this all progressing, I've done mine all a bit backwards having just overhauled the rear calipers and fitted hub spacers. I'm just waiting for lighter evenings to get the beam off and tackle the rust on the shell where it mounts, fingers crossed it's not gone too far
What's the flat connecting bar that connects the sliders on the rear calipers called (yoke?) and what is its purpose? Mine are pretty rusted, are they still a available?
Thanks I'd looked at similar ones to those but got my usual indecision, I regularly find myself needing to do bits of plumbing to fit kitchens but have used either compression or push fit so it might be a better idea to get the more capable one. Soldered joints not only look better but are...
I need to get a blowtorch to free up caliper bleed nipples, which gases get hotest or rather which would be best for this purpose? Any recommended torches
Stanley knife the black cover off, hacksaw down one side continuing the cut across the top, whack a slotted screwdriver into the cut and it will come off easy. Generous dust sheeting to save the mess
Heading from Ludlow to Kington is a good road too but a bit potholey so be careful especially the Rhyse lane, drop off loads of 172 goodies as you pass my house😉
I could show you some great roads around me (Kington, Herefordshire) but I'm working😫 anywhere from me out towards Brecon, Builth or Rhayader are good. In fact go to Rhadader Dams!
