its on 93k, it had a belt change at 37k, then at 62k it had dephaser and belts done again, as this dephaser has only done 30k since fitted i wasnt sure what to do, but maybe i'm answering my own question when i say if im not sure take the safest route and change it as there's not much more work...
im going to get the timing belt kit and aux belt kit done in the next couple of weeks, is it worth changing the dephaser while im at it as a precautionary measure or as its not noisey just leave it alone? is this an expense not really worth it.
this would be a good idea, i would like to know if there would be many interested, are a few renault sport owners near me but never really get chatting to them, be good to a run up the coast or just a meet to have something for rs or clio owners in NI.
Respect for the amount of effort has gone into this, remember it from back in the day and in someways glad to see it still about. I started a wide arch mk1 in 2002, it never got finished and is still lying in my parents garage. i cringe when i think of the money's worth that is there but i...
lol!!! see that sort of thing all the time wif me! i once saw a mercedes sprinter on the back of a tipping body transit, there was more hanging out the back than was on the body!! everytime he sped up the front wheels lifted!! wasnt long before the cops pulled him over!!
^ maybe not what i wanted to hear but at least i was prepared for that. Was hoping someone would have come across a simple swap but ah well, i'll have a few extra features on my 172!! LOL!!!
it's not that simple, i bought this car with no engine or gearbox, i have the other one sitting there so it doesnt cost me anything, all the parts are there and im not afraid of the work or indeed put off by the amount of work required. im just in need of some technical advice on my best way...
I have a phase 2 172 and have fitted a 182 engine and gearbox, problem is the 182 takes it's speedo signal from abs and the 172 takes it from a speedo drive on the box. I have a full 182 donar car so have plenty of bits to work with.
Questions are as follows,
can i get away with changing to...
I have bought a 172 non-runner, the fella who owned the car took a few parts off it before i got to hear and bought the whole car, the car came with factory sat nav but all that remains is the box under the drivers seat and the wiring.
Can anyone tell me what else should be there as the dash...
Hi, ive posted about this before along time back so sorry in advance for repetition.
Basically a while back i had my 182 put on the roller.
it came up with only 142 bhp.
Was very dissapointed to say the least, lost heart and basically parked the car as i hadnt the money to go any further with...
'RAT' is not for me, fair play to you for being brave enough, i would have lowered it on a nice set of wheels, kept it clean and saved your money for bigger and better things.
I've stopped counting too, they are addictive, in my yard at minute i have valver, williams, 2 x FF182's, lowly 1.2 and a breaker!! I have a problem, is there an AA equivalent for clio addiction!!
soon to turn 30 and have a few clio's. been to other makes and models but keep comin back!! at minute own a 172 rep (1.2 16v) to go to and from work, a BG 182 FF, williams 2, valver and MK1 1.2 8v. i really should start to sell some of these, my driveway looks like a renault heritage site...
ok, just getting back with a bit of info, mite be a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. im not on for naming and shaming the guy who fitted the belts as some people decide to go on the witch hunt when they get that info. but i decided to get my hands dirty today and got lend of the equipment...
lol!! the way things are over here theyd think you were here to bomb the place, they see someone walking about with a box of tools or with wires and a pair of pliers theyd have a bomb scare for two days.
i think im gona get a few more checks done on the car, cam timing, compression, lambda...
its a bit of a bugger over here in northern ireland because everyone fills you full of confidence with the fact that they are supposed to know what they are doing with 182's. I have saw on here so many times about issues with the timing on these cars. makes me wish i lived across the water where...
there has been a slight ticking noise coming from the car since the timing belt was done, sounds like tappets but i know these dont give problems. the pulley was not changed as was told this was ok, from reading other posts on the forum i understand that if there is play in the pulley that the...
sorry,
forgot to say the only issue is the lamda sensor heater circuit is not working, possible broken wire therefore the sensor has gone also, causing it to over fuel. could this alone cause such a drop in power??
rolling road is spot on, been calibrated very recently, timing also spot on, proper renault tools used and has been checked. Power graph was very smooth, dont have a copy tho! guy reckoned it was overfueling but could that really make such a difference? compression also spot on!!
